Why is that unlikely? Has this regime given any indication that it values batting average? (Quickly scans the Astros' usual starting line-up, sees 14 players hitting under .220...) Nope, they don't appear to... I understand Jose Altuve's '14 season was more than just batting average... but if he attracted the attention of Cincinnati or Philadelphia, do you really think - based strictly on baseball reasons - that this regime would hoard '14 Altuve at the expense of a legit TOR starter? He's 25 and having, when viewed outside the shadow of 2014, a nice season. I'm not in the camp that think he's valueless, generally. I'm in the camp that thinks last year was probably an egregious outlier and that this regime might not value his specific skill-set. But that doesn't mean another regime wouldn't. Again, he's a 25-year old, high-profile batting champ who's cheap and under club-control. I think he'd be a fairly large carrot, if made available. He'd be a young upgrade for the Yankees, Royals, Pirates...
