[Chron] Math stinks: Rockets waive Harris and what might be next http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2007/10/math_sucks_rockets_waive_mike.html
Which LT are they eyeing? EDIT: Got it, luxury tax. I thought you were saying that we were eyeing a player with the initials LT and I kept asking myself "when did LaDanian Tomlinson start playing basketball?" lol
I was looking forward to some insight or rumors but the article could as well have given credit to Clutch BBS. By the way, can anyone please explain this to me? Does it mean, that if we waive someone and some other team picks him up, they pick up his current contract? Thank you.
Yes, if you pick up a guy off waivers, you pick up his current contract. If you wait until he clears waivers and is a free agent, you can pay him the minimum while his current team pays the rest of the contract.
Yes, it doesn't happen usually for guys with guaranteed contracts. Franchise is an extreme example no team was going to touch him while he was still on waivers
I don't know why everyone is making such a big deal about Mike Harris as well. He was such a long shot to make the team anyway.
Damn, but he had to go,the lowest amount of cash to be payed out and that's it. I hope he finds home in the NBA,and have a good carrer,he deserves it.
i'm pretty sure mike harris will be picked up by someone. i wanted to keep him around for the potential he showed but this really makes no impact on this season.
What is the possibility that Deke is 'cut' with the understanding that he becomes an ass't coach (at same salary) then gets re-signed when an injury or other allows for a roster opening?
sorry a$$ move....harris is chuck hayes with some offensive skills....i love chuck but i say they should have cut him if they were going to cut someone....or novak...we dont need one dimensional players.....this move angers me....but what are you gonna do
Why r we so hyped over Novak anyway. The times he's been in he hasnt hit the threes like I thought he would. They act like Bullard was a legend and the 2nd coming cannot be ignored.
It's a total bummer, dude. Truly sucks. I really liked what I saw of Harris. Everything's been said by everyone, so I'm adding my bummertude. That Harris really tied the team together.
It makes sense fincancial wise. But I secretly wished that we could hold onto him so that no other team will pick him up. Damn. Now here is to wish every other team will ingore Harris and we can sign him later after some trade.
At the end of the day he can be greatful,Rox gave him 50.000 $ and a chance to compete,he is going to sign with other team and that's it. It's all bussines. I'm little bit sad, because he was cut before certain players but his low salary had to do it.
I agree with the decision to cut Harris? I don't think so. I knew he was a long shot but, like Azubuike last season, I wanted him to play for the Rockets. I was one of the first people to hop on the Harris bandwagon during the summer league. He's my favorite type of blue collar player. Don't say things about people if you don't know what you are talking about.
Dallas Mavericks sign Mike Harris http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...mavs/stories/102207dnspomavslede.376817c.html I kid, I kid.
Add me to the bummed wagon A part of me is really hoping that he doesn't get picked up by any NBA team so that we can pick him up later... but then another part of me says that he deserves a shot with the team that is willing to give him a chance. Sigh.... I will have no chance to see him against Memphis...
Mike Harris is following the same steps as Chuck Hayes in that he is wanted but the numbers game got him. Is he in the "rotation"? You all know the answer to that. He would be bench or inactive even if he made the team. He's better than Hayes? OK, what are you smoking there? Hayes has earned his rep. Harris has to do it on the court in the regular season 1st. And look ma, Scola is on the team too. So where Harris going to play? Small forward? Move Bonzi, Battier or TMac aside? Yeah right. And is he really better than our 2nd round pick CL? THe jury is still out and he has a much higher contract AND the team spend a Million to get that pick. It would be much egg in the face if they turn around and cut him. That would be a laugher. They will give Carl a chance no matter what. So the final cuts will be JL3, Sura, Reed and (drum roll please). Synder. That's right, they will keep the shooter. That's what every team wish they have. A sharp shooter. That Novak will get another year to try before he gets washed out. Now if there are trades, then all bets are off.
