Landry was a stud in the Big 10 and in March Madness despite a knee injury he's still recovering from.

A healthy Landry is going to show a lot.

Harris should latch on somewhere.I wish him the best of luck as he really gives it his all out there.

Exactly right, except that the Rockets have a TEAM option on Butler for next year, so he's not guaranteed any money beyond this season.

Reed, on the other hand, has a PLAYER option for next season, so his 2008-09 salary would count against the luxury tax if he is waived. THAT is why I think cutting Reed is not as much a sure thing as most others on this board. While he very well might be cut, I think Morey may have to keep him and look to package him in a trade later in the season.

Agreed. For the past week or so, coaches and players have apparently been raving about Landry in practice. That is why he got minutes with the regular rotation guys in the last two games. They want to see if he could possibly mesh with them as the team's fifth big man.

I'm going to give Morey the benefit of the doubt on Landry, since Morey had him as one of the top big men in the whole NBA Draft (beyond the lottery). He's earned my trust for at least a little while.

Rockets might have a better chance of getting under LT by trading Butler. I'm not so sure if trading Reed can get them under.

Disappointing as I could have seen him as 12th man (with Brooks and Landry going to NBDL) and occasionally getting a minute here and there, but realistically none of the guys we're talking about is going to get ANY playing time with the possible exception of Butler.

And that will only happen with an injury to Yao and/or Deke. That's the only reason, from a basketball (rather than money) perspective, to keep him around.

Harris, Reed, Landry, Butler, Novak, Snyder, even Brooks are extremely unlikely to see any minutes at all. But Butler's a big practice body and he gives us 6 fouls at our thinnest position. Injuries at any other position and we're well covered without going to the IR.

My guess is Novak's the one to go (in addition, obviously, to Sura, Lucas and Reed). It is also my guess that it makes virtually no difference whatsoever whom they cut as long as it isn't one of our top 12 players.

STUPID MOVE MOREY! This guy is 10x better then Hayes. They both hustle and rebound, but Harris has WAY more offensive game. Just stupid IMO!

Yes, since Butler has a bigger 2007-08 salary. However, if Reed is cut, the Rockets will have even less wiggle room next year, since Reed's ~$1.6M salary will count against the Rockets' 2008-09 salary cap and luxury tax.

That is so funny! Morey and RA know what they are doing, they are picking the 15 players who play with the best efficiency, team play, and chemistry.

Maybe 10 guys will play. And we're worried about a guy who may or may not be as good as Landry/Novak/Butler/Snyder tho none of them are likely to see the court with or without a uni.

Harris seems a good player, good guy but needs expansion to ensure a roster spot. Good candidate for a 10 day after January.

    Good luck MH!

They could be the next 2 out of the 4 cut.

i am not surpise to see him cut. don't forget those number in summer games or the pre-season meant nothing. opponents aren't playing the best and our team was playing figure out games.

I trust RA made that decision based on what he saw behind closed doors. certainly it wouldn't hurt to cut him as he is non-guarantee, plus if we ever needed him down the road, we can sign him.

it seems like every year the rockets cut the person that i think should really make the team.

Man, he's been solid throughout, I wish we could keep him under contract and send him to the DLeague...

Any way we could send Francis to the D league where he could focus on his cutting?

Harris will come back to haunt us like Dan Langhi.

Jumaine Jones had a reliable 3pt shot from the corners. I wasn't talking about mid-range, which is almost worthless for a tweener like Harris.
