I think you may be right about that. After all the hullabaloo with getting Landry signed, he has to make the team. But SURA, Novak, Reed, JL3, and Butler over Harris? That just doesn't make sense to me. Are the Rockets holding onto JL3 as a favor to JL? I hope not.

There's no way in hell that Butler gets cut with his contract.

Harris is Jumaine Jones without the jumpshot. His energy would have nice on the 3rd string, but there's no point in keeping him right now. We've got guaranteed contracts that we can trade away later on and sign him right back. Not signing Chuck didn't hurt us two years ago.

I kind of expected it, but it still sucks. I hope he picks up somewhere else. I think he has the talent to be in the league.

Don't forget trade value, when thinking of why...... Harris has none. I thought he would be a great addition though.....

For all the haters of the scouting dept -- betta recognize that they keep finding guys like Chuck, Mike, and Kelenna

Nugs got Chucky, and they just picked up Mike Wilks, who played here and in Seattle last year.

Damn. We have too many players, so thet's the decision. Man I will really miss Harris. I dodn't know anoythin' about him till the preseason. I really like this guy and hopefully his carrer will continue, maybe not in the NBA.

Now move Lucas, Sura, maybe Butler.

I'd be surprised if Harris doesn't get picked up by another team quickly. Anyhow, Chuck had a rape case and knee injury that kept other teams away.

Rockets waive former Rice forward Harris

1st Bad decision by the Wizard Morey. Only Hayesfan will agree with this decision. What were they watching. He gives you more than Snyder or any other scrub currently riding the pine (Reed, Butler, Luther, Lucas etc.. - no d or boards or assists).

Someone was right, guaranteed contracts count for something. I guess a roster spot.

For those unaware, cutting players does not relieve you of Luxury Tax or Salary Cap obligations. Cutting a Snyder or Butler is not a smart move. Butler and Reed especially, since they are under contract next year as well.

Novak is small money, is one dimensional, and can be released after this year - that makes him an option.

Optimally, this gets resolved via trade. A couple 2-for-1s. Send Butler & Novak to Charlotte (missing Sean May) for Othella, a TE, and a 2nd. Othella isn't going to play, but it clears some room.
    Send JL3 to Denver for a 2nd.
Send Snyder and Reed to Atlanta for Lorenzen Wright (and a 2nd!).

Just throwing those out as examples, not real proposals. Yes, we lose talent in each one, but we've got to shed guys somehow. We're not combining them all in one package to get an All-Star.

Screw the Rockets. Fire Morey. Sell the team. Move to Oklahoma. Trade Tmac/Yao. The season is over. I quit.

Bobcats are a good example since they are under the cap. In addition to losing May, it looks like they lost Adam Morrison for the season as well. So, they could be on the lookout for some bodies that can fill some gaps in the short term. They would be a good trading partner.
