    What???

3rd option? This boy won't even be the 5th option.. He's to damn short

You think Brooks would of gotten past Deron Williams or even put some D on him?? Whatever Deron averaged in the playoffs add 10 to it in scoring because he would school Brooks...This kid has 0 chance on D ... Granted he might be able to score 10 a night but how about the 10 he gives up because of his height disadvantage...?

I haven't seen Davis much so I can't comment on him.

On both Fazecas and McRoberts, I don't see their game thriving at NBA level. At least not now. Both have to play either PF or C, either has a dominating skill.

Check out the footages yourself. Personally, I'll take Brooks over these 3 any day.

Here is a theory. Maybe we picked this guy for Seattle.

    Some things to consider:
-Seattle has 4 SF's. Lewis, Szczerbiak, Green, and Durrant.
    -We have 4 point guards.
-Seattle does not have a quality starting shooting guard after the Allen trade.
-Brooks played in the Pacific NW, so they are familiar with him.
-Seattle was going to trade Ridnour for Atlanta's #11 pick. So they don't see him as the future.
-We made a draft day trade with Seattle which may have been part of a later, bigger trade.

So we trade Battier, Brooks, and Sura's contract for a resigned Lewis.

2 replys, both based on the assumption that Brooks is faster than williams.

    1. His lateral quickness will close any gaps making it harder for Williams to penetrate.

    2. his overall quickness means that Williams will not be as open off of screens and P&R's

Though I would like to say this to everyone saying he can't guard D-Will.
D-Will was basically able to anything he wanted against both Baron Davis & Tony Parker. He was one of the few players who showed up for both of those series. Now one is big & one is quick, and neither could really stop him unless D-Will stopped being aggressive himself, so trying to find a PG who can guard him will probably be fruitless. You can't do it with one player.

The team looks poised to follow the lead of the Astros next season. Winning will be a secondary concern like it was this year for the Astros where this entire season was more about enabling Biggio to reach 3000 hits in order to give everyone a nice warm fuzzy feeling. Next season under Adelman, you can expect to see an exciting up tempo game from the Sacramento Rockets just don't expect the next season (or the one after that or the one after that) to end in any victory celebrations down in Houston unless they are planning on playing in a 6'-5" and under league.

I suppose I should be more upset about this joke of a draft but after 12 years of watching stuff like this, I have become somewhat indifferent to the utter stupidity that permeates the entire organization.

I'm in San Antonio on business right now and Spurs 2007 NBA Championship stuff is everywhere. Haven't seen something like that in Houston for 12 years now...
Everyone in the bar I was in last night watching the draft bust a gut laughing at the Rockets' pick of Brooks. Their pick of Landry was even more shocking given that they already have another undersized PF in Hayes. Very disturbing draft from the Rockets. And I thought their draft record under CD was bad...

Sure they do. They want him on our team so that they can watch Parker and Nash dunk the ball on him at will...

Like I said, I should be really pissed right now but I'm just not. If I'm as passionate about this team as I was 12 years ago or 20 years ago, then I should be absolutely livid at this draft but I'm not. Seven straight years of this and I've resigned myself to being a fan of a mediocre team. I still root for them to win but can no longer expect much from them.

It's a terrible pick with no deal in place for Alston. How many damn guards do we need? Not to mention the guy was a complete reach and could have moved down to get him. We needed a PF, there were 3 available, we passed on all three. We just got James, we didn't need a pg. Rafer and James would be cool with me going into the season. Also, if you want to check it out by looking around , Brooks had some terrible workouts and I believe he was really bad in one of the pre draft camps. The pick makes no sense unless there is a trade. In that case i'm fine with it but that doesn't seem to be the case right now.

You and I normally have opposing views, but we are in agreement on this. As I read through these posts, I can't recall so many people whistling in the dark.

it's pretty obvious that morey wanted to deal the pick since they didn't see anyone who can help them at #26.

the rockets might possibly have some deals on the table which would move head, sura, billy, and lucas. since they couldn't move up or out of the draft so they took 3rd stringers to replace the guys who will likely be moved in trade.

if we resign hayes and deke (looks like they will), we have this depth chart:

i put guys who are considered rotation players in red, recently aquired 3rd stringers in grey, and the odd men out are in blue.

    yao-deke
    hayes-landry
    shane-novak-reed
    tmac-bonzi-head-snyder-newly-sura
    james-rafer-billy-lucas-brooks

well its hard to get too irrate just yet, especially if they move some of the other pgs for another player.

landry was a good pick imo, but dont understand why they passes fazekas after talking so high about him.

the aussie pick i dont like. Herbert hill would have been nice insurance at pf

oh, ok. i was watching the draft at Bitter End with a guy visiting from houston. thought you may have been him.

what'd you think about the hyatt? to me, it's nice, but i prefer the historic hotels: ie. La Mansion or The Havana Hotel

My (sober) assessment of the draft

    Keeping Brooks means:

    1) Rafer Alston, Luther Head and Vasillis Spanoulis will most likely be traded.
Count on Rafer and V-Span to be on their way out for sure and Luther Head will not make the rotation now so he may be gone as well.

    2) What kind of QUALITY PF does Morey intend to get with those 3 players?
Realistically Morey ain't gonna get horse poop for those 3 players especially a starting caliber PF like what we need.

Conclusion: We might have to trade Shane Battier in order to land a starting PF. Yes people I don't see any other GM willing to give good value in return for Rafer or V-Span now especially that we have stockpile of undersized combo guards.

Who else besides Battier has any trade value on this team?

    Answer: NO ONE

Sorry people but Brooks may be a good player and steal and what not but he does not fit what the Rockets really need. Look in all honesty we don't have the players to throw around in big trades and makes splashes so we needed to use this draft very conservatively and fill the most pressing need first. I don't see a single scenario in which Rockets can acquire a quality PF without giving up Shane Battier. This to me is heart-breaker because we gave up a lottery pick last year to secure one position and now we are back to square one again. Meanwhile Rudy Gay may actually become something significant to his team and we may forever look at it with sorrow and regret in our mind and hearts.

This draft was a failure in my humble opinion and that has nothing to do with Brooks, I wish the kid all the success in the world. However with our limited resources we just crippled ourselves and have nothing to trade in the market.

You can cheer all you want and claim it whichever way you like it. Say that we are going to make blockbuster trades and sign a quality PF in the summer. Sad fact is that only a handful of you really understand that the Rockets are going nowhere and have no players to trade, no money to sign players, no picks to fill empty needs. Only empty promises on empty hopes.

    PEACE.

i dont think all 3 (luther/rafer/vspan) will be traded.

i dont see rafer leaving at all. I dont want MJ getting the vast majority of pg minutes and i certainly am not confident in spanoullis and/or brooks to take on major responsibilities for a top 7 team.

rockets need some type of stabilizing force at the pg position and rafer, like it or not, he's the most controlled.

Aaron Brooks on 610 AM right now

asked if there's anyone in the league he can compare himself to,
says he has TJ Ford's quickness, and a little bit of Tony Parker's finishing
