well if gay is truly a better player (different than better numbers) than battier after his 3rd year then we can retroactively call it a mistake. i'll be holding my breath :)

You guys acted as if we should've landed a star at 26. A big PF star. Well guess what who do you guys want there?

The Rockets drafted one of the better rated PFs in Carl Landry at 31. He's really about 6'9 in shoes and has a high BBall IQ and he's nothing more or less than we expect from his rookie year. A benchie that could produce 12mpg.

As for the Brooks picks, anyone who is fond if Maurice Williams is fond of Aaron Brooks. He won't come in and get us 18/6/4, because he's not that talented for his rookie year. But a 8/3 statline in 18mpg is something we can expect and maybe in a year or two later he can be a 17/6/4 player.

as i said...i like brooks. i just think we had more pressing needs. and this team needs to decide if it's adding pieces to win soon or win later.

Of corse soon. We need a PF and Morey knows it wells. But I think he doesn't want to have rookie in his first 5. He wants to maybe sing a good FA or make some deal

i've watched more clips and talk about brooks and i feel better about the talent but the pick still makes no sense unless a trade is coming.

This all points to trades in the horizon... Just wait till the end of July to make your assessments.

Why an UNDERSIZED point guard? That's what makes no sense to me.

    Yeah, right.

Oh, I live in San Antonio and was talking with one of the Express-News sportswriters this a.m. Word is, regarding the Rockets draft, that the Spurs management is laughing so hard their sides are hurting.

Why not? Who cares if he is undersized? He is strong, fast, and can penetrate or pull up for a jumper.

Rafer Alston is taller than Chris Paul. Who would you rather have?

im wish i new. an undersized pg whos more of a scorer first and not particularly a great ball handler right now.

Dont get me wrong, brooks is a tough cookie and the guy has some fire (he certainly put it on arizona a few times) but an undersized PG was the last thing i expected.

Having been in the news business for a long time, I have trust in my sources. Didn't you read that I had posted some time ago that Rockets had no chance of getting Sean Williams?

I can't find where you posted that before the fact.

BTW -- In less than a year, you have almost as many posts as me. Why aren't you a contributing member?

Read the Almond-Williams threads in the Draft Section.

BTW, you have more than 4,000 posts. Why are you not a contributing member?

Who cares? Those guys passed up on Barbosa a couple of years back, their drafting blunders just never seem that magnified cuz they never have rookies that join the team the same year. We have a better chance to pick up a solid 4 threw free agency, our savior was not going to be drafted at number #26.
