If Morey hired David we would not have a genius capologist and Clutchfans as we know it would be left with more chaos and ridiculous ideas that don't fit into the cap.

I don't know, we have him now and it doesn't seem like it's made a dent in the ridiculousness.

    thanks, as always, Bima.

This move underlines for me how serious the Rockets are about signing a big star this summer.

I make it a point to read your posts (being dead serious here) as they are generally worthwhile and often merit a response.

I've also spent a stupid number of seconds pronouncing your user name out loud.

Thanks. I know somewhere in NBA heaven, the starting five of

    Steve Francis
    Cuttino Mobley
    Eddie Griffin
    Mo Taylor
    Kelvin Cato

    is looking down upon you.

Remember when we tried to trade Dragic, Martin and Scola for Pau Gasol?

Maybe Demps appreciated our attempts to get him a good package for a star who wanted to go to LA. Maybe he helps us facilitate a trade for Love using Ryan Anderson or Eric Gordon and they finally can get their mitts on their prize Kevin Martin (they need to get rid of one for Asik anyways). This to me is the only way we can get Love and keep Parsons.

Please do not remind me of those days.
The future is looking great even without a free agent acquisition.

He hit that slump wall head on. Look at Frisco , he was in a major slump as well.

Powell will be waived for sure, Casspi depends, and maybe Covington.

I only see Casspi and Covington being waived any time soon if we really do get the "ok" from a free agent. If not they will likely be kept until training camp and allowed to fight for their spot with all the other players.

Is that how it works? Or do Covington and Casspi contracts become guaranteed anytime soon?

Minny has to really overpay to make it worth to Parsons. He wants to be here, and knows that he'll stay if he signs with anyone, really.

Why is everybody so sure nobody will offer Trey Daniels a contract, there's a lots of teams who can use a specialist and pure shooter. I'm even more baffled by this than us keeping McHale.

This is why everyone is so perplexed. The prospect of losing Daniels is seemingly not worth what the Rockets are doing.

This screams confidence to me. WE know we are getting the pieces we want and are willing to pay the guys a year early. The players cannot leave if we match their offers. It clears the cap now and allows us to overpay if necessary. I think Daniels will get offers around 4 million per season, which is a huge jump but he is probably worth that. Les is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that we can keep this group together while adding a marquee player. The Rockets have a plan, let's watch it happen. This is our last chance to sign a big name free agent so if nothing happens this summer a trade becomes necessary if we plan on doing a BIG 3.

    Wha.....wha....wha.......WHAT!!?!?!??!?!

    Illegal!
    Preposterous!
    Circumvention!
    Pure fantasy!
    No wink-wink deals allowed!!!

Bima, you know the posters here don't believe in such "wink-wink" deals. They just keep insisting that suggestions like you just made or the Rox talking to Garcia and telling him they'd offer him the $1.3 million minimum salary he just walked away from ... would have to be illegal, circumvention, etc.

    Welcome.to.the.dark.side.

(Now, to be clear, this is exactly what they did. No doubt they've already told Troy and his agent they're going to offer him either 2 or 3 years at the minimum or slightly above the minimum as a baseline for him when considering offers. $3 million for 3 years makes a lot of sense here.)

They don't want to dump him. They want to keep Troy while signing Melo. At the very least Troy re-signed to a minimum deal (or slightly above) for 3 more seasons is a more attractive trade asset than Troy on an expiring one-year deal.

    So Parsons is staying. :)
