Another idea (which has pros and cons):

If a person arrives at your bar wearing clothing that has "Clutchfans.net" and their user name written visibly on it (large enough to see across the room), they get the CF.net benefits (discounts, reserved seating, etc.).

    PROs:
    • Helps people from this bbs identify each other while at the bar
    • saves you the cost/hassle of creating and distributing cards
    • helps advertise the clutchfans.net site
    • helps establish your bar as the premiere CF.net place
    CONs
    • can be easily faked by non-CF site members
The only thing I could think of that could prevent CF fan forgery is if, prior to each game, we post a password or we say "wear a red hat" or something like that. There's probably a way to deal with it.

Yeah, I'm not really too into the idea of wearing my name and/or a url on my clothes while I'm in public. :p

well... maybe I haven't all the wrinkles ironed out. It was just a thought (and, obviously not a flawless idea).

    just trying to help

Yeah definently. Yeah the only problem i am seeing that i have to work out is how to identify the people and give them a card or something. Really have to figure out how i am going to do that becuase i want to make sure only members get these benifits.

    How about contributing members only?

Just another thing to help out Clutch.

PM to members who request the cards on the board?

I guess members could duplicate whatever you send in the email. To avoid this, you could send BBS members a PM with a unique code on it- then have them pick up the card the next time they're in the club. That way you can cross off the numbers from a list, and make sure each member only gets 1 card.

    something like that.

Well, if a percentage of sales using the card goes to CF.net, then extending the offer to non-contributing members does help clutch, since it would increase the amount of the contribution. That way CF.net still gets some money from the non-contributors, but doesn't even have to give them the ability to edit posts!

    Either way sounds good.

I just think that the logistics of CF.net getting money from actual sales at the bar would be too complicated, compared to only allowing contributing members the benefits, which goes straight to Clutch.

    Maybe implement both.

Well i am most likely going to make the cards have some time of signature by me or something to that effect so the cards can't be duplicated.

I know some members don't contribute that's why i wanted to make it where a percentage each month would go to clutch since i used the board to get the word out there but at the same time if they are not going to contribute they still shouldn't get utilites that we get.

Is live sports bar on Main near congress?

If so I saw a terrace on the back -deck - patio for outside seating. It looked really nice for fall -cooler weather. I had seen the terrace from the roof of the Magnolia on a previous trip. This bar looks real nice-look forward to visiting.

I was at Live Sunday and Monday after I got off work. Unfortunately Stack wasn't there, but I still enjoyed an 8" Pizza and a couple of beers on both occassions. I tried to hit on bartenders on both occasions, with limited success, lol.
