    Stack24,

Good ideas man... I have been wanting a bar for Rockets game without the "under the weather" fans...

Taking a little bit from the Rockets themselves...

If the Rockets win, you should have a buy a shot, get a shot free...

or if they win, offer one free beer with an order of wings?

I appreciate you offering hook ups for the real fans of the Rockets...

    Clutchfans ID cards.....

Maybe you can get a hold of 610 and see if they could do some pre/post-game shows there. (They did do pre/post-game shows in different locations right?)

Maybe hold a raffle or something for stuff like Rockets, Live Sports Cafe, Stack24 is cool hats and T-shirts.

I live in Austin and may never make it to your place, so take this with a grain of salt (Margarita salt - please). The thing that appeals to me is the ability to meet other ClutchFans. I would really like the chance to know some of you. But more than just saying "Hi!". I would like to know you in the context of your posts. Sort of a "can you defend this opinion", or "well yes, but what if", and the always popular "Shut the ...up".

A CF section certainly facillitates this, but could you do more? How do you change us from a group of strangers all united as Rocket fans into a true ClutchFans ggroup? Name tags are way to obviously dorkey, but they do serve a purpose. Maybe a hostess could take your name and your posting name and introduce you. Well that is sort of goofy also, but you get the idea. Maybe a computer nearby logged on to CFnet where one could look up a history of posts by the guy sitting next to them. Any thing that would make us "know" each other.

Separate idea. Since you are downtown, have a pregame party, with a drawing for a pair of tickets for that game. Draw at 7:00 and winner walks to TC, and maybe some of the others will stick around and watch the game. A couple of powere dancers at the pre game party would be great. Information on tonights match up. And I don't just mean "and we are all real excited about the return of Steve Francis tonoight" , maybe a local high school basketball coach telling us what to look for in tonights game. IE, we have a lot of trouble running the pick and roll against SA. Here is how we run it and how they defend it. These are signs that it is working for us. Here are signs that it is not. If it does not, here is plan B, etc.

    Good luck. Tip heavily.

groups of us have gotten together over the years for one thing or another(Smeg World Tour, pickup games, Behad's BBQ/pickup game, viewing parties) and that has always been one thing that was never a problem.
Once you get a lot of Rockets fans together with a common tie of this board.....everyone seems to have no problem getting along.

Its especially hilarious to see what some posters are really like in person.....you wouldnt believe how far off your perception of someone could be.

    that said....

    Stack,
We normally do a few viewing parties a year at BW3, I would imagine the other guys wouldnt be adverse to switching to a new place with the benefits that you are suggesting. Big kudos to you for your efforts.....I have been to your place, and it has definite possibilities.

Hey Stack, I enjoyed coming by the bar during the playoffs last season. It was awsome to go somewhere with fellow fans. However, you let a few too many fake Laker fans in there. :)

I think you are onto a good idea.

How about doing something more interactive? For card holders, give a way 3 wings for every 3 point made.

The only hard part about that would be keeping track of who got their wings. Maybe you just keep a bunch of wings ready to go at the bar and each time a 3-pointer is made, you can come by and present your card to collect. Or maybe you do it like a sandwhich shop and give card holders another card as they enter that evening. So everytime you collect your wings, the card gets punched or stamped...that way people aren't getting too many.

Just a thought. It might make things a little more interactive and keep the mood up.

I beleive the ticket is to have cold beer and a pretty good temprature inside the bar. I have been going to the G.R.A.B. pretty much every Sunday, because of the price of their pitchers. They are selling them for $4.50. That's a steal........The only thing about that place that sucks is that it tends to get hot in there. I have been in your bar before, and liked it very much. We went there before an Astros game and again for a Red Sox, Yankees game. The atmosphere was nice, the girls were beutifull (especially that blonde with the big booty). I think overall it's a great bar just your prices went up quite a bit....I know we got there at happy hour and paid I think $7 or $9 for a pitcher then we missed it by like 3 minutes and the price went up to $12.....I understand you have to make money, but if you lower the prices, I guarantee you more people will show up.

I thought this was going to be about starting a new bar called "Clutch Fans".

But the idea of having a bar that caters to the clutch fans community is a great idea regardless.

    A few concerns I'd have:

    1) How do you verify people's identity? look them up on clutchfans.net in the back computer?

    2) I'd be worried that the D&D monkeys might get into a scrum, should two of them with bad blood wind up there together.

Either way, whoever catered to CF.net folk would be my new place to watch all Rockets games.

Thanks for the input. What kind of pitfchers did you get cause our pitchers are $6 bucks all the way till 7 for domestics and then it's $9 for the rest of the night. Unless you get something other than domestic.

I didn't want to change the pricing too much so that's why i thought a discount card would be good since you will get a discount all the way through your tab regardless of the time and what you go.

    You don't.

Metro Death Rail stops like a block from Live.

That's how I got up there the 2 times I've been. (Rockets/Lakers April 1st, Rockets/Lakers Game 1 First Round Playoffs)

I like #2 and #3. I'm surprised more people aren't in favor of having a fixed percentage of cc.net sales go to the Tip Jar.

I'd be interested to hear what Clutch's feelings are on this. Is he in the loop behind the scenes, or remaining silent? His silence might be telling. I'd make sure you have his endorsement first, as it's his "brand" on the line.

I liked the idea of having a drawing for a couple of tickets before the game, and then (if it's close enough) they can walk or drive to the game. The others that showed up would probably stay because I wouldn't think they'd go all that way just for a chance at some tickets. Some other things I was thinking are:

    1) Some type of discount for people wearing Rockets clothing on nights of games.

    2) Give tickets out, or something of that nature, and have drawings at the end of each quarter. Maybe it would be fun to do something that has to do with the score of the game. I remember people doing football squares that gave you 2 numbers, each one was the last digit of each team at the end of each quarter. If the score was 14 to 7 then the person with 7 and 4 would win.

    3) You could also use the tickets for people to bring back next time they come to get a free drink. I'm sure that would make me want to come back knowing I could watch a Rockets game and get at least 1 free drink.

    4) The bottom line is in order to get me out there I would need to either be getting a great deal on drinks/food, get something free for coming, or have a chance to win something at least somewhat worth enough of my time to go all the way there.

    5) Start a thread before each game and have people put their names on a list on here. Take down the names and let those people sit in a designated area (I think this was already mentioned).

    6) Give half price drinks during halftime if the Rockets are winning.

I could go on and on, hopefully some of this will help you. I'm also at work right now trying to do anything to help me get past the next 2.5 hours. I'm a half season ticket holder, so hopefully I can stop by for at least a few of the games.
