Hey, Evan: http://www.lucasarts.com/products/starwarsbountyhunter/images/movies/bounty_hunter1_s.mov <-check this out.
What's with people saying Luke is weak? Luke is one of the most powerful jedi ever, dont give me this excuse that darth vader wasnt as strong, therefore luke sucks and could be defeated by kids. Luke started his training as an ADULT, and the jedi were saying that Anikan was too old when he was just a little boy. Luke did a whole lot, in a short amount of time, and was the ONLY person that was able to bring back the good in Anikan. Mentally he was far stronger than Anikan, he resisted the emperor/darkside, as he refused to kill darth vader when he could have, something Anikan could have never done. LUKE is the man. check out this forum on what ppl are saying about this: http://betaboards.theforce.net/Classic_Trilogy/b10002/17119902/p1
I haven't seen the ROTS yet, and I'm not sure how it jives with the movies, but according to some of the books and comics and such, the dark side part of the swamp is where Yoda defeated a dark side Sith sent to kill him. Doesn't really jive with the movies since there are only 2 Sith at a time, I guess, but Yoda hid on Dagobah because there was so much life on the planet...the life "force" hid him from detection. He was apparently tracked down and defeated a dark side apprentice who released his "dark side" into the swamp. This is all second hand and doesn't go along with the movies anymore, but there you go.
It's stuff like this that turns me off to SW. Don;t get me wrong. I own the Trilogy and EP 1 and 2, and I saw Star Wars at the theater when I was 7 years old, but when you get into it that much, it's justwayyyy too much. Next time, I'll say IMO Luke was a watered down Jedi Knight. I just don't see him holdng a candle to Mace, Obi Wan, Yoda, or the Emperor.
I just laugh when Luke tells Leia if he remembers her mother in ROTJ. dude you could talk to c3po and he could tell you everything you want to know. And how does obi-wan not remember r2-d2 in ANH. things to think about.
Well in terms of 3po, they specifically said that they were going to wipe out his memory banks (If I remember it right, it was Bail Organa that ordered it).
I didn't care much for that scene either. Everything leading up to it was fine, there were good enough reasons for Anakin to turn bad but that last moment was terrible. Windu whooped Sidious badly. Sidious was down on the floor, meekly called out for help and Windu was about to kill him. How could Anakin possibly think a loser in that fight can help him become more powerful and to save Padme?
I thought the emphasis was a genetic thing not a PURE AMOUNT thing [Luke had one arm in the final movie too] So basically as you LOP OFF A LIMB a Jedi becomes weaker. . . interesting .. I was more enthused by the IT'S ALL IN MIND POWER THING [i hate the genetic explaination] Also . . . Can you see ANYTHING in Vader that improved under Sidious's teachings? In Fact I think DARTH MAUL was HARDER than Vader Maul was kicking some SERIOUS *SS Rocket River
operation 66 was...... *SPOILER* the order given by sidious/palpatine to the clones to kill their jedi generals.
Serious Bank: ROTS made 50m in its first day, 16m coming from the midnite shows. Broke Spidey 2's opening day record by 10m, and broke Shrek 2's single day record by 6m. That is from Boxofficemojo.com
This was actually the only thing that I walked away from the theater thinking that Lucas botched. When Luke asks Leia about her mother, he's obviously asking her because he wants to know more about his OWN mother, whom he had never met. But, and I can't re-emphasize this enough, neither had Leia. Clearly, the only mother Leia knew was Mrs. Organa, whatever she was like. But Leia's description of her mother is exactly how we would expect her to describe Padme, if she had ever known her. Odd. "Leia: Luke, what's wrong? Luke: Leia, do you remember your mother? Your real mother? Leia: Just a little bit. She died when I was very young. Luke: What do you remember? Leia: Just... images really. Feelings. Luke: Tell me. Leia: She was... very beautiful. Kind, but sad. Why are you asking me this? Luke: I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her." But I have to echo everyone else in saying that this was a great, great movie. It delivered in almost every way.
Unanswered questions in ROTS: 1) The Sifo-Dyas/Kamino deletion mystery. Don't send me links to video game trailers. This needs to be in the damn movie. 2) The Force Ghost explanation. I had no problem with Yoda's explanation to Obi-Wan about Qui-Gon, but emjohn is right. How did Anakin learn about this? And why does he appear as Hayden on the DVD instead of Sebastian Shaw. This also was never explained. Major plothole. 3) How come Leia remembers her "real mother", yet Luke doesn't? The Force isn't enough of an explanation since Luke is by far more powerful than Leia. Another major plothole. 4) How come Palpatine looks like he's decaying in Episode II, yet he appears much younger in ROTS(before his "transformation")? Clearly they intentionally applied makeup to Ian to make him look that way in the previous movie. So why not do it this time around? 5) On the subject of his transformation, how exactly did that happen? Was it the Force lightning that caused his face to be scarred? If so, then why is Luke ok after enduring the same amount of lightning(from the same Sith Lord no less) at the end of ROTJ? 6) Does Obi-Wan realize Anakin/Vader is still alive at the end of ROTS? Padme tells him there's still good in him(present tense), and Obi-Wan says nothing. He also doesn't appear to be shocked to see Vader alive and well(relatively speaking) on the Death Star in ANH. The end of ROTS doesn't make this very clear. 7) How does Palpatine know Padme's dead? Her funeral is shown after the infamous Frankenstein scene, so is he using the Force to see this? No explanation is given. 8) If Anakin's sole purpose for turning is to protect Padme, then why continue to serve at the Emperor's side for 20+ years? I realize he was plotting against Palpatine once Empire Strikes Back rolls around, but he still spent decades doing the man's dirty work for no reason. 9) Why does it take 18-20 years to construct the first Death Star and only 4 for the second one? 10) Why are Obi-Wan and Yoda presumed dead in ANH when it's very clear that they were never killed by Palpatine or Vader? The Emperor is a stickler for tying up loose ends as ROTS shows. I find it hard to believe he'd just let them go into hiding without any concern. 11) How does Anakin gain any new Dark Side powers when we never see Palpatine train him? The way this movie's plot is rushed, there was never any time. So basically Anakin gets stronger and yellow-eyed from being really pissed off? 12) Why hide Luke(under the name Skywalker of all things) with the only family Anakin has left on his home planet? Palpatine knew about Anakin's history there since he mentions Shmi and the Sandpeople in ROTS. I realize Obi-Wan and Yoda may not have known that Palpatine was aware of this, but still, your only hope for defeating the Sith and the Empire, and you make it THAT easy to find him? I'll ignore Ben and Owen not recognizing 3P0 and R2 since that's been beaten to death already since Episode II's release. But as you can see, it's painfully obvious that this movie has a ton of holes that Lucas didn't bother to address. Some were gonna be difficult no matter what he did. Most of them however he simply chose to ignore(or cut them out of the script). Weak.
based on this sequence, now i know why i thought leia was older. b/c she remembers their mom and luke doesn't. that doesn't really make sense if they're twins.
1) We aren't told anything about Syfo-Dyas in ROTS and i thought that was a shame. What i figure is that he was on the Jedi Council and Palpatine got to him. Convinced him that the jedis couldn't protect the entire republic and that there should be an army in case of an emergency. After that, Palpatine got rid of him and had Dooku send Jango. I believe in AOTC, Jango says that he was hired by a man named Tyranus, obviously, Darth Tyranus. 2) Good question. 3) Leia remembers what she believes to be her real mother. in ep 4,5,6....we dont know if Senator Organa's wife is alive or not. This hole can easily be fixed by imagining that Organa's wife died early on in Leia's childhood. 4) This is pretty nit-picky. I cant remember exactly how old he looked in ATOC, but nothing struck me oddly from his look in ROTS 5) Good question. 6) It was vague...it didnt really say in ROTS. But we saw in ROTS Yoda looked as if he had a heart attack when Mace was killed. Considering that Anakin was almost a brother to him, Obi won surely would have felt something had Anakin died. 7) This is vague as well. All i can figure is that Padme's family on Naboo and those in the Senate were alerted of her status. Palpatine...being from Naboo would have access to this same information. He was still a celebrated man in the senate and must have been told about the death of a former colleague. 8) He actually plots against the emperor in ROTS when he speaks to Padme. Who knows why he stayed all that time. Perhaps there were things that Sidious had yet to teach once ep 4,5,6. As far as i know, he was never told how to bring someone back to life. I dont think i ever saw him do the lightning thing. Perhaps thats the reason, I dont believe i ever heard anyone on the Jedi council call another "My master", they refer to each other as "Master" without the My part. This could mean that he was still of lesser rank and didn't have full mastery. Also, i dont think he was strong enough. He asks luke in Empire Strikes Back, to join him and they can defeat the emperor. He was never strong enough to take the emperor out himself. He was always potentially the deadliest of any Sith or Jedi, but many things were still left untaught. 9) The 2nd death star wasn't fully completed. Also, once you do something once, its easier the 2nd time. Also, they were working on the 2nd one with full capacity....and even then Vader comes aboard telling the commander that wasn't good enough, and the commander then says they will double their efforts again to make the DS operational. 10) I agree, good question. I would have a hard time believing that the emperor would let basically 2 of the strongest Jedis live. Especially since when Yoda dies, the last Jedi Luke will be. This means that there must have been a hunt for other Jedi because Obi won and Yoda changed the emergency beacon in the temple making it tell other Jedi to disperse and go into hiding. If luke is the last, that means all the others either died or were killed. if killed, it means they were hunted down. 11) Anger and hate are just that strong. In ROTJ, Luke doesnt start to beat Vader untill he erupts with hate. 12) They were hidden at birth. She had the children at a remote base, the exiles there knew of the danger that the children would be in. When they sent out the info that Padme had died, they could have put it in a way to believe the child had died as well. and i say child, because they didnt know there were going to be twins.
