So this general, what is he? I mean to me he looks like just some droid? How does this work? Is there a living organism within his frame or what? Or is the droid alive in the SW universe or what? Bit confused. I also didn't think like he seemed a badass. In any case, I hate that this major villain was a droid. Don't know, doesn't draw any emotion from me.
he's like a hybrid. did you think he was the MAJOR VILLAIN in this one? i didn't. he was problematic for the Jedi...but they had much bigger fish to fry in this one.
Check out quotes from IMDB. Obviously, the conversation of JULES WINDU with GRIEVOUS was cut from Production. Look for the word "Windu". xcharged says this happened in the Clone Wars and not the movie. Weird how IMDB has "inside stuff". I like it! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0121766/quotes
I guess I regard any villain that requires a final duel is a major villain. Obviously I don't mean anything in terms of the Emperor or Anakin, but he was problematic enough for the Jedi. Wasn't he always brought up in the Council etc? And he had to be fought by Obi Wan to be destroyed, in addition to Mace doing whatever he did to him in the Clone Wars. So I guess I just phrased it incorrectly, though it's just a minor irritation. Doesn't ruin the movie for me or anything.
if you have a chance, check out the cartoon that covers the time between 2 and 3. i watched it with my son a couple of weeks before the movie came out, and it helped!
The Balance was furfilled at the beginning there were 100'S of Jedi and 2 sith at the end 2 Jedi and 2 Sith So At the end of ROTJ there are NO MORE SITH ANYWHERE? Rocket River
and that's, presumably, when Anakin brought "balance." i don't think balance means balance between dark side and light side of the force. i just don't get that at all from what's said about balance in the force. the sith were oppressors who controlled the galaxy before...i don't think having them around in any form is seen as healthy by those who are seeking "balance" in the force. the above post is certified nerdirific.
Grievous represents the tip of the iceberg of storylines and characters that Lucas didn't delve into much detail with for the movies. He decided to give the novels, cartoons, comics, and even video games very substantial pieces of the story. This annoys me to a degree, because on film it just looks like big plot holes or shallow character depth. Grievous, if I have the story right, was something of a hero and force sensitive on an alien world that got demolished by Palpatine's forces/Separatists. Whole planet wiped out, and he was one of a few survivors. Palpatine demanded that he join him, since he was somewhat powerful, but he refused. Shortly thereafter, an accident was arranged, leaving him in about the same shape as Anakin post-lava. He was rebuilt as the cyborg, with some obiedence 'implanted.' He then was sent out as a general and a Jedi assassin of sorts. Slaughtered a fair number, and kept their sabers as trophies. Evan

Obi-Wan: You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. It was you who would bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness! This would seem to validate that theory, which I would tend to agree with because for one, there never is complete symmetrical balance between the light and dark sides. Plus if presumably (we never know for sure) there are only 2 jedi and 2 sith at the end of ROTS, then yes there are equal numbers on both sides but things aren't exactly in a state of equilibrium.
-------------- Doo-koo dies, many jedi die. All left are Yoda, Obi Wan, Sidious, Vader Score at the end of ROTS: Jedi 2 - Sith 2 Obi Wan teaches Luke, Vader kills Obi Wan (?). Jedi 1 - Sith 2 End of ANH. Yoda dies Jedi 0 - Sith 2 Luke becomes Jedi. (is this true? Yoda makes him Jedi? I forgot.) Jedi 1 - Sith 2 End of ESB. Sidious dies Jedi 1 - Sith 1 Vader Dies. Jedi 1 - Sith 0 End of ROTJ Final score: Jedi 1 - Sith 0 ?? like xcharged posted earlier in a reference to a stuffo.howstuffworks.com , the Sith come back. WTF?
there were more than just Obi Wan and yoda at the end of Jedi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Jedi_Purge "The Expanded Universe series of books indicates that other Jedi also survived the purge, though few of these Jedi lived to see the fall of the Empire." Survivors of the Purge * Ood Bnar * Empatojayos Brand * Vima Da Boda * The Dark Woman * Ikrit * Ylenic It'kla * Obi-Wan Kenobi * Even Piell * Qu Rahn * Tyneir Renz * Corwin Shelvay * Echuu Shen-Jon * Ydra Kilwallen Sibwarra * Kam Solusar * Halagad Ventor * Vergere * Yoda
Well that's the "Expanded Universe", which are books not written by George Lucas. So those are of debateable authority.
Well I just got back from seeing it again and it was even better this time. ROTS freakin' rocks! I don't care what anybody says. It's the only SW movie that really had me choked up. Sure, they're may have been a moment or two in other Episodes...but nowhere close to the emotions I went through w/ this one. The whole end scenes on Mustafar, the converstations btwn Anakin and Padme and Anakin and Obi Wan...just really got to me.
If you guys check out this thread (from theforce.net forums), you'll find a HUGE discussion about how the perceptions, dialogue, and overall scope of the original trilogy has now changed as a result of ROTS... and some of the observations made have been astounding. Some highlights include discussing Leia's "visions" of her mother (a popular topic here, so far), Luke/Vader/Emperor interactions in ROTJ and how they correlate with ROTS, and just seeing how much more characters like Obi Wan and Yoda now mean to all of us after seeing them in full action in the PT. I think this may be the overall legacy of ROTS... forget the dialogue, forget the cheesy love scenes, and forget all the CGI (if you still have a problem with it)... just realize that it DOES change the way you'll look at the OT from now on. After the first 2, I thought there was no way that would happen.
