So it wasn't the movie that you wanted. Whatever, spaz. You're way tooo smart for Star Wars... Congratulations. Braveheart. Now that movie was a huge piece of crap. I laughed and laughed at the ending. Only a spastic moron with a love for cheese would like that stupid show.
...so, THAT'S why Leia said "Aren't you a little short to be a Storm Trooper"...all this time, I thought that probe/needle torture device thingy gave her super x-ray vision...
Spaz....???? LOL...... Braveheart was 50 times the movie that Sith was, in fact Dragonheart was better......dork ! DD
No way. Braveheart was nothing shot of a comedy. Beer shot out of my nose when that idiot yelled "FRRRREEEEEEEDOOOOOOMM!" I would never watch that again. If you like it you are just stupid.
Freedoooooommmm !!! A classic line in a brilliant movie..... If you can't appreciate fine film making like that than you are just a moron. Sounds like a poll........
PSST! DaDa, come here...I know this guy named Professor Frink that will sell you a sarcasm detector really cheap...He'll even throw in a matter transporter for free!
"Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny." - Yoda, ROTJ "Your father was seduced by the dark side of the force." - Obi-Wan Kenobi, ROTJ ******SPOILER ALERT************ The "epic moment" in effect was the choice that he made to cut off Mace's arm. What did we see that led up to this choice: Anakin dreams of Padme dying. He seeks counsel with Yoda who tells him essentially to accept death as a part of life. No good. Palpatine on the other hand, tells him that through the dark side of the force he could have the power to save Padme. Hmm, very interesting. While this is going on, he is also losing his confidence in the Jedi order when they put him on the council, but don't make him a master (as has happened with every single council member in the history of the Jedi) and when they ask him off the record to spy on the Chancellor. So he's already pretty disgusted with what he sees as the hypocrisy of the Jedi Order that he has invested so much faith in. Then he finds out that Palpatine is a Sith. And he does the right thing when he tells Mace. But upon further reflection in the council chamber, he realizes that Palpatine is the only person who posseses the knowledge that he needs to save Padme. The Jedi won't do it. The Jedi can't do it. Only Palpatine can. So he rushes back to make sure that Palpatine stays alive. And when Mace is about to kill Palpatine, Anakin must make a choice: Do I hitch my wagon to the power hungry Jedi who won't help me save my wife, or to the power hungry Sith, who will. And he chooses the Sith. If you notice, when Anakin pledges his allegience to Palpatine, his eyes are shifty, he's uncomfortable. He knows that what he's about to do is wrong - wrong, but necessary. If it takes embracing the dark side to save his wife, then so be it. Everything that he does in the Jedi Temple is a means to that end. But as we know, the dark side (and the power that comes with it) consumes, and by the time Padme confronts him after his crimes, Anakin's not just talking about saving her life, he's talking overthrowing the emperor and ruling the universe. It's an excellent example of the way the Dark Side corrupts even the noblest of intentions and a great story, IMHO. Commence hole-poking!
How about flashbacks to his childhood a la Godfather II? Or just making it the opening 20-30 min of Episode i? I agree it does open the story, maybe there's a way to have done it where it wasn't a whole film.
just saw it... uh, you could say he turned to the dark side when he swiped Dooku's head off with two lightsabers!! you could say he turned to the dark side when he killed Windu. you could say heturned to the Dark Side when he killed the Younglings... he got real evil real fast, just as Siddeous prompted him.... I liked Vader's "Noooooooooooo", I didnt cringe at all, it was Vader releasing the last bit of Anakin he had left in him... now every second that Anakin and Padme were on the screen together, i cringed... I mean i couldnt even watch it i was so embarrassed for the terrible actors... I WANNA KNOW MORE ABOUT DARTH PLAGUS!! WHO WAS SIDDEOUS' MASTER? WAS IT PLAGUS? MAYBE PLAGUS IMPREGNATED ANAKINS MOTHER WITH THE MIDICLOREANS....
i have to agree with DD. I am not a hardcore Star Wars fan but I have seen all the movies and this one just seemed hard to get into if you weren't a hardcore fan. The movie would have been much better if all the actors were on par with Ewan McGregor's acting and if the writing and plot didn't have so many holes in it. It just seemed like scenes were just thrown together and the dialogue was weak in far too many spots. And it's not like there were complicated things that neeed to be altered with it, just simple changes in word choice or an additional sentence or two leading into a different thought. It was as if Lucas cared way too much more about the effects and fight scenes (which were excellent) and didn't spend enough time writing a movie that flowed from one scene to the next. Just my opinion.
I think we tend to hold the OT up on such a high pedestal which the NT cannot possibly live up to. As has been said plenty of times, we tend to turn a blind eye toward the many flaws in the OT because they're classics, yet tear apart the NT for the very same flaws. One thing I will agree on is that for the most part, the dialogue in the original trilogy flowed better and the actors seemed more comfortable. But I believe that has more to do w/ the director than the actors themselves. Portman, Ewan, Hayden, Samuel L., Liam Neeson, etc...these are all good to great actors who have turned in great performances in many movies. So why didn't they feel as comfortable w/ the material and the "universe" as Ford, Fisher, Hamill, etc... because Lucas focused too much attention on the sfx and failed to really get through to his actors as much as a director should. But if you're looking for some Oscar worthy material here then maybe you shouldn't watch these movies. This is Star Wars: fun, escapist, sci-fi adventure. That's what I go to see (w/ these movies) and that's what I get. That scene was a great example of Sidious manipulating the emotions of Anakin. It was filled w/ half truths. I think Plagus was his master, whom he did kill. But the whole bit of Plagus being so powerful he was known to create children through the force and finding the power to immortality. Those were lies to seduce Anakin. He knows Anakin deeply loves Padme and doesnt want to lose her, so he concocts the idea of being able to stop death, which Anakin has said before he wants to learn how to do. Then he concocts a story of a powerful Sith being able to influence the force in creating children... Anakin never had a father. Sidious was trying to paint the Dark side of the force in a more favorable light.
I think that Darth Plagus WAS Annakin's father, since he could manipulate the Force (according to Siddious) to CREATE life. He might not have done the deed physically, but through his powers of the Force, he could have done so. Lucas has hinted that this is the case. Hopefully it's like the identity of Robin Masters in Magnum P.I., it is a mystery that is never solved.
sure beats the Christlike Anakin was born from Immaculate Conception theory... it would all come full circle if Plagus is responsible for Anakins conception
What are the flaws in Empire Strikes Back? And I mean legitimate flaws, not visible boxes around the ships(it was 1980 after all). Aside from lacking a true beginning and ending, Empire is about as flawless a film as I've ever seen.
3PO is annoying. Luke is obnoxious. The Super Happy Fun Slide that Luke falls into after committing suicide was completely ridiculous plot contrivance and a cheap way to "rescue" Luke from what logically should have been certain death. But I don't mind - I still love the movie.
