He wasn't really letting on how much pain he was in, would be my guess. He didn't start showing some regression till mid to late August, so they very well thought he was suffering in a mini-slump that tends to happen if arms are getting worn out over the long season.
base running woes continue, half on the windmill and the other half on altuve for slowing down. he never slows down.
Agree and have thought Pettus should be gone for a while But Jose was jogging to first too. Zero excuse for being lazy
I don't see how this is on Altuve at all. Any player who trusts his base running coach will come into a base standing up (and will probably slow down) if there's no urgency being signaled.
Just ridiculous. From not hustling the second he made contact to the unbelievably moronic decision to not slide even though pettis was telling him to do so.... If hinch doesn't lace into these guys then something needs to happen.
the misplay led to the chance of a double/triple. the ball wasn't hit hard. players don't bust it out of the box on every pop fly/single. it just always looks bad when it ends up being misplayed. i'm sticking to 100% pettis blame on this one.
Good spot for Gattis... he needs to get going, and the Astros don't have a tremendous amount of pressure to get these runs in.
