Thank goodness for that. If only we hadn't screwed up and had taken Reggie Bush, his 5 yards on 6 carries would've really slowed down Mark Brunell going 22-22 and torching our secondary.
Yeah, only difference is we couldnt score double digits and we couldnt stop anyone anyway. But, agreed at this point not much difference, DAMMIT!
Hey...just saw Kevin Gilbride on the Giants sideline. I almost didn't recognize him, considering another coach wasn't pimp slapping him......
LOL there you go again. Cat you are losing credibility. Care to post his receiving yards? Watch the game monday night and let me know if hes better than mario freaking williams or not. Geez.
I honestly think that our defense last year was better than this crap they put on to the field. And we had worse talent last year. Wow...WTH is Richard Smith doing. I mean the play calling today on defense was pitiful. All Andre and Mark were saying on the radio was how we should blitz more often because Brunell can't run like he used to and I absolutely agree. I'm starting to get very worried that this season could be a replica of last years. They made Ladell Betts and Brunell freaking look like All-Pro players. And then the continuous bad snaps. Last week there was somewhat of an excuse of them being on the road, but today the game was at home. At the beginning of the season I predicted a 8-8 season, but now I'll be happy winning 3 games the entire year.
I'm losing credibility with who, people who think the No. 1 overall pick decision is the reason why we're having the season we're having? Given how twisted that logic is, I don't think I want credibility with those folks. Has Reggie been a better player this season than Mario Williams? Absolutely. No question whatsoever. But would having Reggie instead of Mario on this roster have even the slightest impact on what's happening this season? Absolutely not. This team looks years from being ready to compete. I can't even begin to describe how many holes there are all over this roster. Anyone trying to simplify these losses into the difference between Bush an Mario is clueless on how a football team works. A few of you make it seem like the decision to take Mario is why we're having the season we're having... when in reality it made no difference at all.
Hey Texan fans, here's some little parody songs to go with your double shot of jack daniels. "When you feel down and out and it looks kinda brown, it's the Texans, it's the Texans." "When you really in the pits and you got to reach up to take a sh*t, it's the Texans, it's the Texans." "Budweiser salutes real men of genius. Today we salute you, Mr Charley " I dont know my ass from a hole in the ground" Casserly. (We salute you, mr dumbass). Thanks to you, you have set ineptitude to a new level, instead of sacrificing one pick for a sorry assed one, you say why not screw up 3? (Cant believe you're a moron). Thanks to your pathetic service, you have set back the Texans at least 3 more years. (Thanks for nothing b*tchboy). So thank you, Mr Casserly, everytime a Texan defender can catch a cold better than a tackle, we'll be sure to think of you. (You hold a special place in my rectum, Mr Casserly). Budweiser beer ... Sorry guys, my sarcasm right now is overflowing ...
I don't think it is strictly a question of whether drafting Bush would have meant the Texans wouldn't be 0-3 (though it is clear they couldn't have a *worse* record with Bush). I think many fans (including this one) are think that at least the team would be more competitive. Certainly more entertaining. And for fans of a team that appear to be heading the wrong direction, at least being more competitive AND more entertaining is at least a step in the right direction.
Nothing I've seen so far would force another team to show respect for this team. I can understand your anger because you had hopes for the Texans this year. That's where we differ because I have learned to expect nothing from Houston pro teams until they prove that they can deliver. For now, the Texans simply cannot deliver and they won't be able to do so for another 2 years. It's time to face facts: This is going to require a complete do-over. What we have here now is the wretched stench of the Houston Oilers - a bad team with huge talent problems that has come to accept losing. That was a franchise that became the poster child for futility. This is about as bad as it can get and trust me, things will get worse. In the weeks ahead, you will come to wonder just how far the Texans can fall before hitting the bottom. I wish that there was another way but unfortunately for all of us, when you have been as stupid and incompetent as this organization has been for 4 years, fate grants you no favors.
This fact provides a footnote to your astute observation: In 4 years, the Texans took 19 players in the first 4 rounds - the so-called prime drafting spots. Of that number, 8 are currently out of the league.
Well, people are going to spit their drinks on to the computer monitor when I say this, but... After watching these three games, I feel more than ever that they made the right choice for the #1 pick in the draft. I know, I know, Mario hasn't done squat so far, but I don't think even the Texans organization (as patient as anyone regarding Williams) believed he would have this much trouble adjusting right now. My point being is that I truely believe that the team felt the offense would be fine. And, for the most part, they have. No, the have not been spectacular, but by no means have they been the problem. David Carr is not the problem (leads the league in QB passing rating). The fact that the defense has not even played respectable, the offense hasn't really had a chance to showcase themselves. So, I think they made the right choice on draft night to get a MUCH NEEDED playmaker on the defensive side of the ball rather than add more to the offense which they made the most positive changes to in free agency. It certainly hasn't worked out, but it was the right choice IMO.
And Fox wouldnt have telecasted a game that means NOTHING to us for cities outside of Houston. CBS might cut the games if we keep losing. Its a shame that only one texas team played today and they still didnt show the game. Ofcourse.... that might have been a good thing.
Well...the defense couldn't have played any worse than that. Mario and the DL were downright horrible, Portis and Betts had a field day, and I don't think I need to remind anyone that Brunell (38 years old) set a NFL record today against us. The offense was equally as bad IMO. The running game is non existant, period. I think Carr's numbers are a lot better than how he actually played. We can blame it on Carr, the OL, WR's, etc...but the bottom line is that if the first read isn't hit or it isn't there, we aren't making plays. I think the biggest need for this team is to upgrade the secondary. Our safeties are garbage and as long as players like CC Brown and Lewis Sanders are our starters, our defense will never be complete.
Ok, we all the D sucks...Where the Hell is Mario...It's like Waldo, I can't find him... Ok, all you Carr defenders...Yes, he's steadily improved and yes, he isn't on the Defense, but c'mon, admit that he still sucks...fumbled snaps, balls, poor decision making...He just has to limit his mistakes...
One interesting number I heard after the game on 610 was that David Carr has fumbled the ball 58 times in 63 games, that's a lot of fumbles and wasted plays. Like I posted above, our passing game is limited to one read. If Carr can't hit the first read or if it isn't there, the play is basically over. I honestly think Carr is shell-shocked from being sacked as many times as he has. He panics if the first read isn't there and it's either a completely broken play or a dump off to the receiver. We're not seeing the playmaking ability we need from our QB.
It would help if he had even a decent offensive line. I really think that is one thing that the Texans have ignored over the years, to get him some good protection.
