I spent last year defending the “rest days” and sure enough it was the right thing to do, obviously, but these inexplicable lineups, no defense whatsoever. I just don’t get it. On one hand I hope it works and we get a good win and on the other hand I hope this lineup goes down in flames so as not to beholden Dusty but I know either outcome really won’t matter and he’ll do it again. This is definitely managing by hunches, looking for a spark etc. but using the wrong players.
Dusty must pay attention to Twitter and social media because he always does the exact opposite of what everyone wants. He saw everyone complaining about Julks playing so much so he plays him more and leads him off so he gets the most at-bats. Chas a multi-hit game and is the only one to show up yesterday so he sits him.
Altuve is trying to force balls in the crawford boxes. .158 average home vs .324 on the road. He needs to take the same approach home or away. This free swinging approach probably applies to the rest of the team too. Too many strikeouts. Not enough working the counts.
Didn't Chas put up great numbers batting lead off before he got hurt? I think he was only behind Yordan and Tucker in OPS in that period. He was hitting for power but also getting on base regularly.
Still only behind Yordan and Tucker in OPS, regardless of qualifier. His OPS is 56 point higher than Altuve who is 4th. He also has the 4th highest OPS against RHP, there is legit not a single objective reason for him to not be playing everyday. Even Meyers should be below him in the pecking order right now, although still comfortably higher than Julks.
I guess we know which pitcher Dusty hates. Poor Bielak is saddled with a crappy lineup for at least the second straight start. He has to be begging to get back to the pen at this point.
Let's put the guy hitting .182 with .523 OPS in his 11 games at lead-off. The 11 game stretch where we're 3-8 ..coinciding with him getting more appearances and at-bats. It's not like their is a direct correlation or anything...
