Sadly it's not surprising. By far the worst bullpen arm the Astros have, lets throw him out there with only a 2-run lead. I think we've seen this a time or 10 this season.

Giles is the gift that just keeps on giving. Hopefully they can get it back in the 9th but all that momentum supposedly built by sweeping St. Louis is going down the drain.

3 games in 4 nights as he pitched both games in St. Louis

They had said he wasn't available today before the game started. Giles had also pitched in the same games, but a lot younger obviously which i'm sure played a part.

i liked hinch's vote of confidence for giles there. it's a damn shame he blew it. was really pulling for the guy, doubt he gets another shot again.

Giles has been great for a good while.

However, it doesn't make sense to not give your "closer" a chance to close. He'S had two days off this week. If he can't handle pitching in this situation, then that's kind of sad.

    1) I've never said I like Hinch, never. YOU say I love him, but i've never said that

    2) Even against LHP, Sipp has been worse than Giles

    3) No manager around, especially your man Maddon, would have put Devenski in to close the game out

    4) YOU said game overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr when Gattis hit the HR so don't tell us you were righttttttt

    5) I thought you had me on ignore?

    Still not handling pressure well.

Seems most posters fib about this.

then we don't have a closer if Harris is unable to pitch in games like today.

Hinch should have told Giles to pitch around him. I blame him

Hinch doesn't make the decision of who is available and who isn't though. He is told before the game when certain relievers aren't available. Now it's certainly his decision of how to use the ones that are available, but using Harris wasn't an option for him

As far as it being "sad" if he can't pitch 4 games in 5 days, he isn't a young kid for one thing, and not only would it be 4 games in 5 days it would be a quick turnaround from a night game last night to day game today.

Feliz has pitched once in the last week and Devenski hasn't pitched since June 9th. Has anyone asked Hinch about this stuff?

Yea Feliz would have been an option

No way Devenski would have been an option to close here though

We about to win this anyway

You looooooove Hinch, we all know it.
Sipp 3.22 ERA and 1.299 whip, Giles 5.08 ERA and 1.52 whip.

Sipp, 1 save, Harris 1 save and 3 blown saves.

Only in your little mind you see Giles over Sipp.

and yes, i said game over because i did not know Giles was going to close the game, sorry

90 feet away. Giles certainly doesn't deserve this win, but lets get it over with here.
