Lesson learned...always run your hardest on the base pads. Everett was spectating on the way to first and it caught up with him at home plate.
Well, that was an exciting play. Everett should've been called safe, but by the ump's view, I can see why he was called out. Lucas was right, had he been sprinting from the get-go, he would've easily had an inside the parker.
RBI base hits are so rare for the guy... its hard to fault him for taking a second to look at what should have been a single (if not for the miss-play by the CF).
Besides, 99% of all MLB players aren't going to sprint to 1st on what would likely be a bloop single. It wasn't like it was going into a gap or anything.
Exactly. Also, I remembr his last inside-the-park HR (the last one by an Astro)... it was a no-doubt gap shot to deep RCF, and he was hustling from the get-go. And btw... Hunter Pence is not in that 99%
Well, he was sucking in situations where we were already losing... Garner tries him out in a situation where there's no room for error (where he was pretty good to start the year). If you can't use him in either of those situations, when can you use him?
**** you, ump. You know White's cursing the oblique muscle he didn't know he had. Looks like a completely different pitcher since coming off the DL.
But we were only down 2 in the last game when he relieved Oswalt. He gave up 3 (2 credited to RoyO). I like White, I really do. But he's struggling now. If he couldn't get more than one out (while giving up 7 runs) in a non pressure/blowout situation, why would you expect him to be effective in a tight 1-0 game? He should get mop up duty like Lidge did when he lost the closer role. He's is sucking hardcore right now.
OK, so if I put up a wager with you guys 1 month ago that the by far the best pitcher in the Stros bullpen would be Brad Lidge...how much coin would I have taken yall for?
Actually, we were trailing 4-2 as well when White relieved Williams and gave up those 7 runs. So that's at least 3 games in a row where it's been close and he's given up runs.
You don't, period. Atleast not in that situation. We're trying to end a losing streak, we're leading by one and he sends in a pitcher who's been doing nothing but allowing base hits and runners to score. He's NOT the same pitcher he was to start the year, yet this somehow gets by Garner. Shocker.
