Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess).

8-5 John Lackey, RHP vs. Brett Oberholtzer, LHP 7:10

8-6 [IMG] Steven Wright, RHP vs. Jordan Lyles, RHP 7:10

8-7 Ryan Dempster, RHP vs. Jarred Cosart, RHP 7:10

I wish I could listen to Wright do a baseball game... that would be the most miserable sounding but interesting experience of all time.

... and then pair him with Milo.

Geez, with that many arms in the pen you would figure one or two have to be decent.

Yes, because shuting out the 66-45 Rays for 8 innings, the Rays who are 8th in MLB in scoring, showed nothing?

Yes, because giving up 1 run in 7 innings against the 64-47 A's, who are 10th in MLB in scoring showed nothing?

Yes, because giving up 1 run in 6 innings, against the Blue Jays who are 6th in MLB in scoring, 4th in home scoring, showed nothing?

Well, Boston is better than those teams (though none have been easy).

I expect Cosart to struggle for the first time. It has to happen eventually, and Boston has a great offense.

Yes right now Boston is the best, but three of his 4 games have been against top tier teams and offenses. Some people will never be happy even when some of our guys have success. It's like a constant search for something bad.

Yes he will have bad outings, maybe Wednesday we will have to wait and see

I am impressed with Oberholtzer's pitchability. He doesn't have the best stuff but he does a good job of mixing and locating his pitches.

it's early (with him, peacock, and woj, who we've yet to see), but we've got the makings of a rather intriguing staff to open the year in 2014. and it's just gonna get better and better from there.
