Leon, Whitcomb, Dezenzo. All being humbled by real pitching. They all thought they're ready for the big league.
Not sure what y'all were hoping for with this rag tag lineup that Joe tragically arranged (see demand for Pena to bat 2nd) against a high quality starter. This ain't the White Sox. That's turned red with blood.
This actually brings up a great point and topic / analytic for discussion... this should not be ignored (and I'm not singling out Dubon on this... matter of fact, he should be at home w his newborn right now after his week sabbatical / 7-day paternity leave is over). ...not sure if not makes sense or not sure. (T=tiers) T1: Certain players should be allowed a 1stP swing... (and GD am I glad Tuve showed some patience behind the plate last game/series) T2: Youre gonna take 1st pitch.. if its a ball, you're gonna take 2nd pitch / if its a strike... then you are allowed to swing away T3: You take the first 2 and as long as they aren't both strikes, you're getting a piece of that ball someway every pitch when you're up
me personally these are the only dudes who should be allowed to swing at 1st pitch. Altuve, Yordan, Bregman, Yainer, Tucker and surprisingly Jake Meyers. idk why but meyers actually has success with 1st pitch swinging.
