He pinch hit for the pitcher because we lost the DH. However I don't give a f**k he's a little banged up, it's inexcusable to leave Yordan Alvarez on the bench there for a guy whose has one hit in a month. Dusty insists on treating a pennant chase like its still April.
Dusty used Julks because he knows Brantley is returning soon. Not because he thought Julks was the right decision but to give him another opportunity.
He pinch hit Meyers with Dubon first then Julks for the pitcher. Could have saved Dubon for the pitcher spot so you have contact capability with speed there...
Can't believe Dusty PH Dubon for Meyers and then used Julks for the pitcher. Why on earth would you ever make that choice? Really hate seeing Duvall hurt us. He was a guy I really thought we should have targeted in the offseason.
This is exactly right. Dusty deserves credit for the players liking him and being a “players coach”. But that comes with huge downside when he then plays favorites or can’t make the tough call to reward success or punish failure.
Man, very frustrating and goofy loss and a missed opportunity but it's not necessarily indicative on how the season will finish. Dusty will be handcuffed in the playoffs. Astros had been tied virtually in 1st place a couple weeks ago but Rangers won later that same day, if memory serves. The Rangers have been reeling for 2 months and Seattle finally lost. We survived getting swept by Seattle and still had a chance for 1st place. JV just pitched his best game of the season, and it was against a top offense. The bullpen is in better shape than just a few weeks ago. The offense is mashing overall. Abreu looked improved yesterday and Diaz is starting to hit better as a DH. Astros just need to finagle some rest for Framber, Brown, and Javier.
Oh sweet Jesus, Alvarez was CLEARED TO PLAY yet we pinch hit Dubon for Jake Myers and then sent up 1 for 40 Corey Julks -- all with the bases loaded and down 2 in the 10th? This is lunacy. Stupidity on a level I have never witnessed. To give you a window into Dusty's thinking process: He wore gloves to "protect" himself against COVID for years. All of science has said that COVID is a respiratory virus that carries extraordinarily low risk of transmission via surface contact. Yet the fool still wore the gloves long after the medical community came out and said it was pointless. This is the same level of ignorance, stubbornness, and unwillingness to adapt as sending Mauricio Dubon and Corey Julks up to bat to win the game with the bases loaded in the 10th. They guy just doesn't ever adjust his flawed thinking -- then it becomes a battle of wills and a contest to prove who is right. Caveman style thinking.
