Strange that Tucker has never faced Paxton eta: of course I also forgot that Paxton hasn't really pitched in 3 years
Jon’s sample size this season is still way too small to say that the team is better off with Maldy, the worst offensive player in baseball, in the lineup. Also, Maldy is the worst defensive catcher in baseball. So now you have a terrible 1st baseman and a terrible catcher starting. All this just to accommodate Maldy, who isn’t a competent major league player anymore.
I think every game until the end of the regular season is going to feel like a playoff game, seventh game of a series and the series is tied. A lapse, losing streak, or general screw up can end the season.
This has to be Maldy's last season, hopefully Baker's as well. If the Astros some how get in the playoffs and progress to the World Series we will likely be looking at both of them again. That doesn't look very promising right now, but who knows. One game at a time.
Those bad pitching stats shown on Astros TV feed explain a lot of what is wrong. Valdez, Brown and Javier have sucked in their last 9-10 starts.
