    Tucker's May slash line:

    .280/.368/.559 = .927 OPS

    He's a star player.

Boston sportsfans are the worst sportsfans in America.

Outside of the Bronx. And LA. And both Chicagos.

OK ****...they're 1 of the 5 worst sportsfans in America.

    There's good people there, but...

Lost in the s**tshow of a bullpen is how awesome our starting pitchers have been over the last week.

    7 starters you say?

    Tandem rotation.

    I'm only slightly kidding.

When astros have healthy 7 starters I think they need to have 3 full-time starters and 4 part time starters to where 2 starters pitch 1 game on a regular bases in the 4th and 5th slot. Could resolve our starters not going too deep and then relying on bullpen problem

Is Javier available today once Garcia tires after 4 2/3?

I think it depends on whether Dusty sees him as a Bullpen guy or a tandem starter. Everybody is technically available, but practically it's up to the manager.

Javier is most likely available, but this is an odd post considering Garcia has a career ERA less than 3, never allowed more than 3 runs in a game, and is on a 3-game winning streak. I get that pitching 7 innings of less than 3-ERA ball is better than 5 innings of less than 3-ERA ball, but what Garcia is doing is pretty damn good. I really hope he doesn't regress.

Long term, Luis Garcia has the physical attributes that usually translate to endurance.

In 53 games, he's already equaled his 2020 WAR productivity in less games (53 vs 58). His BB% is up and K% is down. As his slash numbers continue to regress upward to the mean he's gonna look even better. He's got a shot at a 5 WAR season. Super happy he's working out. That 2015 draft is holding the club together.

    Garcia's outings, latest first.

Date Opponent H/A Pitchers IP H R BB
    05/26/21 Los Angeles D H Garcia 6.0 2 1 1
    05/20/21 Oakland A Garcia 5.0 3 2 2
    05/15/21 Texas H Garcia 5.0 5 1 2
    05/10/21 Los Angeles A H Garcia 5.1 5 3 2
    05/05/21 New York Y A Garcia 4.2 2 3 2
    04/29/21 Seattle H Garcia 5.0 3 1 0
    04/20/21 Colorado A Garcia 5.2 3 2 3
    04/12/21 Detroit H Greinke 4.2 10 6 3
    ________Relief_________Garcia 4.1 2 0 1
    04/05/21 Los Angeles A A Garcia 3.1 4 2 3

Worked into the 6th 3 times failed to reach the 5th 2 times. The trend is good.

...especially for a guy who never pitched above A ball before making his major league debut last season.

While I think his batting average will suffer a little due to his pulling grounders into the shift, his BB% rising and K% decreasing is huge as he hits the ball very hard when he forces pitchers into the zone. He appears to have a great sense of the strike zone, but not necessarily of what he can do damage on as he has a really high in the zone swing rate relative to his low out of the zone swing rate. If he tones down the aggressiveness in the batter's box to a normal level, he might be able to get his BB% higher than his K% without sacrificing too much power.

You are so on the money here! His swing is just so weird, and yeah, it’s hard to explain, it’s like he doesn’t use his wrists or something. I don’t know how to explain it either.

The reason he got the “Ted” nickname is his swing. Ted Williams had an awkward looking swing from the left side, but was damn effective. Tucker’s swing looks alot like Williams’.

He's been fine lately, but it's not like I'm counting on 6 innings
