These BP-led losses when we are leading are the most frustrating. And they’re happening too often. The offense also let Price off the hook (looking at you Jake) too many times. Sigh oh well. Win tomorrow and I’ll consider the series a huge success
The pen is fried. Nobody in the pen believes in themselves. They will continue to hold us back. We have a good record but it seems like it should be 6 or 7 wins better when you look at our starting staffs numbers. This pen is destroying us.
To be fair, the 3 batters that faced kimbrel were young newbs that werent facing him in the playoffs last year.
The pen problems are overblown. On average, they are probably going to pitch about 3 innings a game and give up 1 run. Within that, they'll have a lot of games where they give up nothing, and some where they blow up. In this series, they've now given up 3 runs in 8 innings - basically what you can reasonably expect. Every team's bullpens blow leads - that's part of baseball. The Astros' pen probably does it a bit more because the starters are so good that they are given more leads than other teams. But I doubt they blow a bigger % of leads than any of the other bullpens in baseball.
The worst part about this pen is that every time I start to gain a little confidence in someone, they go out and get shelled. I cant trust anybody.
