Remember, no PBP in these threads and keep the chatter on topic (if it is about something other than this series, talk about it in another thread). 9-25 Matt Maloney, LHP (1-4, 5.35) vs. Brian Moehler, RHP (8-10, 4.86) 7:05 on FSN 9-26 Justin Lehr, RHP (4-2, 5.30) vs. Felipe Paulino, RHP (2-10, 6.06) 6:05 on FSN 9-27 Johnny Cueto, RHP (10-10, 4.39) vs. Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (13-11, 2.97) 1:05 on FSN I thought Matt Maloney was still on the Rockets payroll. When did he go to the Reds?
This series shall be dubbed "The Battle for 4th Place in the NL Central." Hah... Matt Maloney with the early edge on Moehler.
Awesome... Pudge bobblehead giveaway tomorrow. Don't miss out! Still not as silly as the Indians having two separate Victor Martinez giveaways the week after he was traded.
Astros sign Korean prospect Moon... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp...news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou&partnerId=rss_hou
Interesting, actually. The Lo kid had a solid debut over here. He struggled briefly after getting promoted but got back on track. Maybe this Glen Barker fella has a good eye. All I know is I like hearing anything about the Astros that includes the words "signed" and "prospect."
Hah, I was actually thinking about posting something along those lines while I was responding to your previous post. That was pretty ridiculous.
Dude MMP is so empty, its pretty sad. Didn't catch the start was it like this at the beginning? Thinking about catching tomorrow's game in person but didn't want to spend on Field Box tix however if its this empty then I might just get noise bleeds and move down.
Honestly didn't pay much attention to the crowd. I'm sure it dissipated. I know Drayton left after it was like 6-0 or something. The Reds are trying to stake claim to that 4th spot in our division.
Before we went into complete tank mode I thought we could catch the Cubbies for the 2nd spot in the division. 5th place...funny the argument for Coop staying aboard was that the club was overachieving but when its all said and done this club will end up pretty much where they were predicted to. Obviously not all his doing but can't imagine it would have gotten better with him still here.
The Reds have a payroll over $30 mil less than that of the Astros and have had their own rash of injuries. Their ace barely even pitched this season.
Troy Tulowitzki has come on ridiculously strong in the second half. He started the year in a serious funk. Now, he has 30 HRs and an OPS well over .900. He and Hanley Ramirez are a couple of seriously awesome shortstops.
Really like there nucleus of young talent with good young pitching. My only problems with the direction of the club, if I was a Reds fan, is why 1)Did they trade for an expensive aging 3rd baseman 2)Not trade there older pitchers for prospects at the deadline.
Good questions. I'm not sure what their plan is. I do see Drew Stubbs is showing some nice power in his first major league stint.
What is that 8 in a row to the mighty Reds... Speaking of young stud Shortstops.... From @BaseballAmerica #Astros SS Jiovanni Mier No. 2 prospect in Appy League. http://bit.ly/3m2Cn6 Juri Perez and Jonathan Meyer top 20
That's pretty impressive... 3 of the top 20, even if it's just one rookie league. I was surprised to see Meyer that high. Just following through box scores, I noticed he was struggling. I was paying more attention to Mier's stats so I must've overlooked Meyer's impressive walk rate. I know almost nothing about Perez other than what I just read from your link. Anyhow, that's a promising report.
