71 percent don’t want Biden to run for reelection: poll https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3543867-71-percent-dont-want-biden-to-run-for-reelection-poll/ excerpt: Seven in 10 Americans say they do not want President Biden to run for a second term, according to a new poll that comes as Biden’s approval numbers remain low and his party braces for losses this November. A Harvard CAPS–Harris Poll survey shared exclusively with The Hill found that 71 percent of respondents polled do not think Biden should run for a second term, compared to 29 percent who say he should run. more at the link
Progressive group to press Biden not to run in 2024 RootsAction.org plans campaign against the president’s renomination for a second term, calling him “neither bold nor inspiring.” https://www.politico.com/news/2022/07/11/progressive-group-biden-not-run-2024-00045152 excerpt: A left-wing group that worked in 2020 to persuade progressives to support President Joe Biden is now preparing to turn on him, organizers told POLITICO, with plans to launch a public pressure campaign to block his renomination in 2024. The effort, by RootsAction.org, is the latest sign of unrest among Democrats about Biden, whose job approval rating has cratered during a punishing midterm election year. RootsAction, with an email list of about 1.2 million people in the United States, said it plans to spend six figures on a “#DontRunJoe” campaign, with digital ads starting in early nominating states on Nov. 9, one day after the midterm elections. *** On the left, at least some Democrats have had enough of Biden, too. Following Sanders’ defeat in the 2020 primary, RootsAction recruited progressives critical of Biden to appear in appeals to leftist Democrats to cast ballots for him, part of the group’s “#VoteTrumpOut” initiative. Two years later, the group said that if Biden does run, he will “have a fight on his hands.” “Our immediate goal within the Democratic Party is to ‘dump Biden,’ much as the anti-Vietnam-War forces among Democrats set out to ‘dump Johnson’ in 1967, which led antiwar candidates Eugene McCarthy and Robert Kennedy to enter the race,” RootsAction says in a FAQ on its “DontRunJoe” website. “If you’re in touch with Democratic Party activists, the frustration is palpable,” said Jeff Cohen, a co-founder of RootsAction. “Biden appears to be dithering while progressive achievements just go out the window, from abortion rights to the Clean Air Act.” more at the link
the good news is that nobody cares about Hunter Biden, I gather because he's not running for office in either 2022 or 2024. So it's all good.
The "Why" is important though that nobody in the media will actually ask. There are different reasons for different parts of the Dem party that don't want him to run again. Most are valid reasons, but hardly any of them will be because they regret putting Joe Biden in office in 2020. Some of the reasons will be that they want him to focus on governing these last two years and not campaigning. Some of the reasons are because they want a fresh face that resembles more of the youth movement that'll turn out Gen Z. And yes... there are some that want someone more progressive. If Biden feels good and wants to run again then its his right to do so. However as much as we appreciate him for doing the job that needed to be done to get Trump out and stabilize our country, the job to push the US into the next generation much stronger is probably a job for another fresh face, and I want Biden to go out strong in office governing well till the end and not having to worry about 2 years of campaigning. So while I know you'll be here trying to dunk on Democrats thinking this conversation is a sign of weakness... I think if you actually had the intellectual curiosity to ask why, you'd see that it's coming from a place of deeper strategy, and there are good points to be made that it's a sign of a strong confident party that feels like they can do this. Not being a cult of personality is a positive IMO.
Except that he was selling access and influence from his father, without which he would be just another turd pinching tent dwelling crack addict in San Francisco or some other Democrat left hell hole. His father was profiting hugely off of these relationships. It was all as corrupt as it could possibly be.
Oh I'm sorry... I mean IF THE AUTHOR OF THE ARTICLE had the intellectual curiosity. I'm so sorry for just assuming that because you blast out 20 op ed's a day with the same political slant that it's a position you actually are taking. I'm just so so so sorry Trig. You of all people deserve the benefit of the doubt.
It seems unlikely that he will be the Democrat party nominee. But they did not want him in 2020, but literally had nobody better. He was their top guy. It appears to be the same cast of characters again. That they do not want Biden* is understandable. But they have to choose someone. If they still have nobody better, then that puts them in a difficult spot. In any case, the Democrat elites, including the media and (CNN - see above) are pretty clearly coordinating together to throw him under the bus, come what may.
I thought that was fake . . . apparently not https://www.mic.com/impact/biden-young-voters-2024-poll excerpt: I’m neither a professional pollster, nor a data analyst, but I feel fairly confident saying that President Joe Biden has a pretty big problem when it comes to, uh, well, everything. At least that’s what a new New York Times/Siena College poll suggests, placing his overall approval rating in the low 30s, and his overall prospects for reelection somewhere south of your average septic tank. Conducted last week, the poll sampled 849 respondents who overwhelmingly pointed to significant dissatisfaction with the Biden administration, and in particular, Biden himself, who garnered just 33% overall approval — numbers that look even worse when sliced along party lines. Only 26% of Democratic voters want Biden as the party’s nominee for president in 2024, an abysmal showing rendered even more dire the younger the respondent got. Overall, an astonishing 94% of voters between the ages of 18-29 want Democrats to nominate someone else for the next presidential election. That’s not a hole easily escaped for a man who, just last week, took aim at his party’s left — and largely younger — flank as being “out of step with the mainstream” of the Democratic party for their anger at his lackluster response to the Conservative repeal of federal abortion rights. more
I'll start paying attention to corruption charges the day Biden's net worth balloons in the hundreds of millions like Pelosi. That was one of the emotional sticking points fatboi Don had during their debates, how a scrubby dummy like Joe could match his griftful billion dollar "genius".
Are Democrats Stuck With Joe Biden in 2024? https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2022/07/are-democrats-stuck-with-joe-biden-in-2024.html spoiler alert: the answer is probably yes
