The articles posted come from all different pubs. I don't always agree with them, but that isn't the point and it's good, maybe even healthier, to see what's being discussed elsewhere.

Hmm…the plot thickens, why are you Dems trying to take Joey B down? We all know this senile old fool is compromised but protected. The Republicans may have something on him but unless the Dems get involved behind the scenes, nothing will happen to crooked Joey and his disgusting family.

"Transparency brings accountability" Why doesn't that apply to the GOP when they are in power or to the Supreme Court justices for that matter? Hmmmm...would also be nice if you had a source for that image.

Eh, I don't see any reason the DOJ shouldn't share with Congress about this whistleblower, unless they are in an active investigation into Biden's corruption that would be compromised by doing so.

I literally put the guy on ignore because he posts so many op-ed pieces. I come here to have conversations about what people think, but he clutters threads with opinions from people who don't post here and then decries any suggestion that his posting is an endorsement of the thoughts they contain. Ain't nobody got time for that.

That's fair. I just wasn't sure. I think if a person doesn't express their own thoughts on an article/tweet/meme posted, it is reasonable to assume that they agree with it.

    that's too bad.

here's some news reporting, so not an op-ed piece. And I did all my "conversations about what people think" about this subject this morning in class. Sorry to disappoint!

N.Y. ditches gas stoves, fossil fuels in new buildings in first statewide ban in U.S.
The state ban on gas in new buildings could face legal challenges, but it marks a milestone in the energy transition sought by climate activists

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2023/05/03/newyork-gas-ban-climate-change/

    excerpt:

New York has become the first state in the nation to pass a law banning natural gas and other fossil fuels in most new buildings, a move that could help reshape how Americans heat and cook in their homes in the coming decades.

Late Tuesday, the New York legislature approved a $229 billion state budget that will prohibit natural gas hookups and other fossil fuels in most new homes and other construction, a major victory for climate activists. The move, which will likely face a court challenge from the fossil fuel industry, will serve as a test of states’ power to ban fossil fuels outright, rather than simply encouraging developers to build low-carbon buildings.

The law effectively requires all-electric heating and cooking in new buildings shorter than seven stories by 2026, and in 2029 for taller buildings. And although it allows exemptions for manufacturing facilities, restaurants, hospitals and even carwashes, the measure does not do what some climate activists had feared: give cities and counties license to override the ban.

Dozens of cities and counties have adopted bans on gas hookups in new buildings, part of a national movement to cut emissions from homes and businesses that account for about 11 percent of the nation’s carbon pollution and 30 percent of New York state’s greenhouse gas emissions.

As the restrictions spread across the country, they become a new front in the culture wars. Earlier this year, when a federal official suggested, and then quickly retracted, the idea that the national government might ban gas stoves, debate over the future of gas flared.

But Democrats, who control the New York Senate and Assembly, decided to press ahead, despite the partisan warfare. And, in the end, it was not negotiations over gas stoves that stirred controversy but a drawn-out fight over bail reform and housing policy that delayed approval of the budget by a month.

The law’s passage, and the approval of a measure that would require the state to build renewable energy when the private sector falls short, have fueled supporters’ hopes for New York to become a national model.

“I hear from local government and state folks frequently that they’re thinking of this sort of policy, and so I’m certain, as other policymakers look to a state that’s found a politically and technically feasible way to go about electrification, that others will be paying attention,” said Amy Turner, a senior fellow at Columbia Law School’s Sabin Center for Climate Change Law.

If there was a SINGLE shred of credibility to this whistleblower you think trumps campaign wouldn't have leaked it before the election? Give me break. The clowns will throw as much trash to the wall to see what sticks cuz they know they're base will blindly believe like lap digs.

If there's a crime file some damn charges. Never ending conspiracies

Why would the doj be bounded to share faulty evidence that the trump doj didn't find serious enough to prosecute or issue a special counsel ? The doj is bounded to share every conspiracy nowadays?

Do folks forget that trump hand installed the current fbi director after firing the old one cuz he hated trump. The idea that a hand installed trump fbi chief would be sitting on evidence harming biden and not share it before the election is hilarious.

Absolutely. Congress has a duty of oversight over federal agencies, including the DOJ and FBI. If Congress is asking and there is no compelling reason to withhold, I expect them to comply. That was my expectation when Trump's Administration was stonewalling, and it's my expectation now. The agency may have a good reason to not share, and if they do they can go explain that to Congress. What I don't want to see happen is the Tucker Carlson Administration not cooperating with Congressional oversight and then throwing this back in their faces saying, "See, Biden's Admin didn't comply, so why should we?!" Just comply. Doesn't matter if it's bullshit. Frankly not their job to distinguish between sincere requests and partisan witch-hunt requests. Just comply.

You mean like when the house was requesting trumps Financials for years while they were being stonewalled right ? They had to eventually go to the supreme court for BASIC DOCUMENTS that a Republican Senate committee found to be concerning.

It's always democrats being weak and playing by the rules while republicans cheat every moment they can. Breaking news even if the doj complies with the house its not like a future tucker carlson admin will give a flying damn what the biden admin did. Theyre still going cheat and break every rule they possibly can.Trumps doj refused to comply with house democrats requests and democrats had to sue the admin for basic documents. Sure biden folks need to turn over every conspiracy and every memo that leads to no where. Give me a damn break

The head of the FBI is still ran by TRUMPS NOMINEE. If there was a lick of truth to this whistleblower they can recommend charges like normal procedure. Democrats dont need to bend over backwards in the name of morality.

Democrats need to grow a spine. We're dealing with radical party who want to destroy democracy in this nation. No matter what evidence is discovered your conspiracy folks @Commodore are always going spew conspiracies.

You want to save democracy by having the executive branch refuse constitutional accountability to the other branches of government? I get your point about the asymmetry of compliance with the normal order, but I won't be joining you in the race to the bottom.

Democrats raised the debt ceiling FOUR times under trump. Are Republicans "playing nice" now and returning the favor? No, they're threatening to crash the economy so they can hurt folks on food stamps and other basic welfare programs. This is who the republican party is. They want to destroy the economy to prop up trump. They will do anything to accomplish that. People need to wake up

The idea that if we bend over backwards and give them all the stuff they want that somehow they'll play nice in the future is such utter bullshit. The modern day republican party is controlled by fringe radical Christian zealots.

Still don't care about whatever fight-fire-with-fire bs you're selling. The argument is not that if we play nice they'll place nice. It's that if we do what they do, our democracy will die twice as fast.

I want governments to function as they are designed. Congress has oversight responsibility over federal agencies.

If the report is handed over, Republicans will get 15 minutes of additional insinuations of some kind of corruption by Biden. If there's nothing to prosecute, its half-life will be short and we'll move on to other things. Big deal.
