Aren't the Astros like 97-2 with Pena batting 2nd and 5-52 when he bats elsewhere? Even if it doesn't make sense how good they are with Pena batting 2nd, keep him there.
Laziness is the likely reason. They never reseeded before and just don't feel like fixing it. Though, it likely helps the Astros this year.
39-6 Bregman would be an OUTSTANDING 2-hole hitter assuming you had another one of him to hit in the middle of the order on this team.
This is supposed to be his regulars. Good news, Vasquez in for Maldonado; Mancini in LF and McCormick in CF instead of Dubon. Bad news, Gurriel at 1B till the Titanic hits the middle of the Atlantic Ocean Floor.
2022 Bregman between 2017 Altuve and 2022 Alvarez; 2019 Bregman between Alvarez and Tucker, 2018 Bregman following Tucker.
If I can be convinced Dusty would even consider benching Yuli, then yeah that's the combo play right there and our absolute best chance to win a world series from a run scoring standpoint. Diaz at the 5 spot is perfect.
"I promised to play the regulars, I never promised *where* they'd play. Manager's decision. Next question."
I do not see how they can justify starting Yuli. I do appreciate all he's done, don't dislike him, I just think he's done as a starter.
The Astros 1st opponent has less of an impact on the Astros winning the World Series than the bloodbath of the Dodgers having to play the Mets or the Braves in an NLDS.
