The first part is all that matters. We can be all frustrated and pissed off here on the internet watching on tv. Worst baseball game I ever remember going to was early April/May (my 3rd game there) or so at MMP 2000 vs the Cubs. I think they hit 2 HRs off of Lima while I was walking down to the seats. And we were in the 1B sun, and the roof was open. And we lost like 12-1 or something. Now THAT was an unfun day at the park.
This was mentioned yesterday in posts that directly preceded and followed your own. Stop being silly. Or...maybe they don't Much better than its playoff health. The record will be noted for a looong time, until it's broken. Then, the new record will be noted for a long time.[/QUOTE]
Ha, I remember going to an Astros game with my mother and my friend in like 2007 or so when they gave up 11 runs in the first inning. That was a crappy game. Maybe it's me. Though I did go to every post-season game last year and we won them all except for the Saturday and Sunday WS games. I was out of town for those.
But you know, we still went out to eat and drink afterwards, so it wasn't a total waste. We just laughed about it. You're not allowed to come in town for any Sat/Sun playoff games ever again, should the Stros be good enough to play in them.
The best astro game i ever attended was in 1986. Gooden vs Scott Astros 5-4 win on a bottom 9th, 2 out walk off blast from improbable Craig Reynolds.
If the opposing pitcher pitches well, yes. How many times do we say certain Astros pitchers underperformed, or didn't get the job done, when they have a bad game... when nobody ever gives credit to the hitters there. Same principle can be applied with the converse.
There's been years where the trend was exactly the opposite. I don't think its simply a ballpark factor.
If they fielded their best lineup every single game, most of their players would be totally gassed by the time the playoffs roll around.
The WOOOO has become a thing with...wait for it...the SEC baseball teams in the College World Series. Shocking, I know. I'd rather watch a rally monkey blowing a vuvuzela while doing the wave than ever hear that **** again. You whiskey-tango types need to knock it off.
The odd thing is that had they lost Monday night some posters that didn't want Altuve to sit last night would have seemingly been ok with Altuve sitting last night since their winning streak was over. Still trying to make sense of that.
My guess is it is one or a combination of the follow: 1) Batter's eye sucks; 2) Astros store balls in a room with a lot of humidity or outside or other teams are storing balls in less humid rooms; 3) Just random data.
It might not be the Mona Lisa but that's a work of art. Only thing it might be missing is Kyle Tucker in the 9 hole, but I can't complain with Kemp.
