He is a MLB starter. I would not call all but one start excellent. He generally does not go deep in games and gets pulled if he gets into trouble early. I am happy with him as a No. 4 or No. 5 starter. With his velocity, he still has a better chance than most to improve his strike out rate.
I guess excellent means different things to me and you. Over the last 10 starts he has an ERA of 3.21. Even only averaging 6 innings per start, I would call that excellent. If he were regularly going 7 or 8, I would have used a much stronger word than just calling him a solid starter. A wipeout pitch would elevate him to ace, but if he could just keep getting that walk rate down he could elevate to a good MOR pitcher even without the K's. Pitchers like Oswalt and Halladay were very successful simply by attacking the strike zone with good stuff. Doubt that he can get to their elite walk rates, but if he can get it under 3 he can really become effective, and go deeper.
Well Peacock vs Price might be a little bit of a mismatch, but I'm still counting on this team to keep on a roll! PS: David Price's dog is named Astro and he took funny pictures with our mascot, should I pencil him in our 2015 rotation?
It might sound a little weird, but if Price is on the trading block i wouldn't mind going after him. I would certainly trade Folty, Santana and few other prospects for a proven stud. Despite his ERA, he's actually pitching the best he ever has. Time to start taking advantage of some of this prospect depth, but I'm not sure if Crane would be willing to pony up the money to keep him after next season.
I'd rather trade for another bat than a starting pitcher. The stros offense can be so dull sometimes.
Well considering he was blowing chunks in between innings I would say he pitched pretty damn good yesterday.
Good start here. Hate having Guzman in there. Singleton was killing lefties in the minors this season.
This dude keeps leaving the ball up ugh. This team needs to give Folty a chance if Peacock is getting this type of opportunity.
