I think he made chicken salad out of chicken excrement. Schaub had some very good years and Kubiak absolutely got the most out of him as he's getting the most out of Average Joe. I was just saying it would be great to see what he could do if given a QB that had the potential for greatness.
That's fair - he's only struggled in one stint, which many good coaches do. I just didn't see much "strength" beyond his offense. He didn't seem particularly good at hiring assistants, in-game management (timeouts, etc), motivation, drafting, or anything else outside of OC duties. He just seemed like a really good offensive coordinator misplaced in the role of head coach. Good guy, though, so I hope if he does get another opportunity, he has learned and does better.
Yep that Super Bowl winning scrub Flacco is quite the challenge for kubes to make look like he belongs on the field. You' re right though, if the Texans would have picked up Manning (good quarterback) he may have not been fired.
No one called Average Joe a "scrub", he is what he is, average. He had an amazing run much like Jeremy Lin did in NY, and his team won the SB, that doesn't make him more of a QB than he is. However, he does have a shot at his first ever 4000 yard season.....he's not on pace for it, but if he finishes the season with 2 above average games for him then he'll pull it off for the first time ever. Kubes really can get the most out of QB's, every single one of Average Joe's numbers are above the NFL average for the first time ever. The man is an awesome offensive coordinator.
I can't believe you use the term "average" on both Schaub and Fitzpatrick. Schaub at his best was light years ahead of Fitzbenchtrick at his best.
I didn't mean to have it come off as if I was saying both were average, to be clear I was only meaning Average Joe was the average player. Schaub was solidly above average for almost his entire career as a starter. Kubiak managed to take a guy like Schaub and have him lead the league in passing....pretty amazing. Schaub had a damn near elite season in 2009 which is absolutely amazing given his natural gifts. If Kubiak can do that with someone like Schaub, imagine what he could do with a player with more natural gifts. As to Schaub vs Flacco, Average Joe is having by far his best season of his career and it would rate as maybe the 3rd best season in Schaub's career. Flacco will never sniff Schaub's best season. Also, Schaub had 3 4000 yard seasons and was on pace to do so a 4th time before he went down to injury....Average Joe has never hit that mark and is not currently on pace to do so this season but it's close enough to where he could do it if he finishes the season off with games better than his season average.
I'd honestly flip Flacco and Schaub. Flacco only had one season with a passer rating above 90 before this year. Schaub's had 5. Before this year, Flacco had 3 consecutive years below a 60% completion %. Schaub was never below 60% as a starter, even last year. Flacco's never thrown for more than 4,000 yards while Schaub had done it 3 times. Schaub made 2 Pro Bowls, Flacco's never been. Flacco has a stronger arm and better tools, but at their best, Schaub was still the better QB.
Flacco went to the most important bowl and won it, something that Schaub (who choked in the biggest moments) could never do. Schaubs stats were a product of the system he was in, dink and dunk. Skillset and poise puts Flacco above Schaub without a doubt.
Yes but hasn't it already been established that all that matters is "Justwinz"? Clearly Trent Dilfer went to the most important bowl game and won it thus he is better. Simple (minded) as that.
Kubiak is doing great for my ravens this year. But a lot of Flacco's success this season has to do with a healthy and decent oline giving him time as well as the fact that he has the most weapons with wr's that he has had in his career.
Flacco is better. System has a lot to do with the stats between the two but I would take cool Joe over Schaub any day of the week. Joe gets the W's that's all that matters to me in the grand scheme of things
Case Keenum looks like the Texans’ starter, by default Posted by Michael David Smith on December 18, 2014, 12:14 PM EST Getty Images The Texans have no good options at quarterback this week, as injuries have already cost them their original starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, their second starter Ryan Lindley, and their third starter Tom Savage. So who will their fourth starter be? It looks like Case Keenum, by default. Although Texans coach Bill O’Brien may not announce whether it’s Keenum or Thad Lewis until Sunday, Jason La Canfora of CBS reports that there’s every expectation Keenum will be the guy. The difference between Keenum and Lewis is that Keenum, who initially signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2012, has been with the Texans and spent the whole offseason learning coach Bill O’Brien’s offense. Lewis arrived in Houston less than a month ago and doesn’t have as much time in the system. Either way, the Texans will struggle against a good Baltimore defense. They’ll just hope Keenum is the better option of the two not-so-good options they have.
Another bad Texans move, not bringing in Case a month ago. He could have another 150K in the bank at this point.
