Guess he had to evaluate Kessinger, Hensley, and Maldonado before they played. It’s an important series and he has to evaluate.

Next it’ll be he’s had a set back. I hope not.

Team has had injury problems all season.

Let’s see Brantley hasn’t played in over a year. Yordan out over a month. Altuve has played just over 30 games. But they can run…

I don't understand how Alvarez can be close to returning but not able to hit today.

Someone isn’t telling the whole story. Just like when Dana Brown said Altuve’s latest oblique injury wasn’t as bad as his first one. Right.

    Dusty being Dusty.

After all he sat Altuve after a 4-4 game.

I’m not going to get mad at the lineup, I like it! But, I would like to see Diaz catch two games in a row for once. If Maldy can, why can’t Diaz? His numbers are far better at the plate when he’s playing in the field as opposed to DH.

    Just nit picking I suppose

Why not? Have you seen him lately? Throwing something like a 2.50 era the last 1.5 months I think.

Obviously depends on what we send out but we desperately need a dominant inning eater. We also need some veteran leadership in that rotation. Just my two cents.

Dusty doesn't control roster moves, but sure, I guess everything is his fault anyway.

Pretty consistent with how the Astros have handled injury news the last several years. Lance’s injury severity wasn’t revealed for over 2 years, and before that his TJ injury wasn’t revealed till he actually had the surgery (the day after the season ended). All of that spans 3 different GM’s and 2 different managers.

Until baseball mandates full transparency like the NFL (which is largely based on gambling), we’re left with trying to read tea leaves and gauge rehab stints/performances with occasional quotes from the player (when they actually let them talk to the media).

Anybody else notice that Urquidy went from making rehab starts to no news whatsoever? (Supposedly he’s going to make a AA start on 7/30, but not much has been said or confirmed since his last start on 7/19).

You're not nit picking at all. Just using simple, basic, obvious logic

Diaz catching not only puts his bat and the Astros in better position to win, but it also removes Maldy's bat and defense.

That's the definition of Win Win

    Not everything.

I just hope for the next 3 games he doesn't have a lineup where he has to pinch hit for 3 hitters in a row.

    Anybody got tonight's lineup?

It's not just the way they handle updates it's the discrepancy that comes from the players as well.
Alvarez saying he will play the next day in Sugarland and the resting etc.

Well, the players don’t dictate their rehab schedule… the trainers and front office do.

I do know that it does seem to be the type of injury that could come back at ANY time. Game 3 of a random regular season August series against the Angels… or game 3 of the WS. Doesn’t matter.
