All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PBP, that can be found from other sources if you need it. All games are broadcast on AT&T Sports SW unless otherwise noted. 9-5 Martin Perez (L) vs. Hunter Brown (R) 6:10 MLBN (out-of-market only) 9-6 Glenn Otto (R) vs. Framber Valdez (L) 7:10 9-7 TBD vs. Cristian Javier (R) 7:10
Bally sports on Spectrum will be broadcasting it here in Austin as usual (all Rangers games). I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl.
I hate this time of the year. Sports Radio would rather talk about Alabama playing Little Sister's of the Poor or the legal status of former players than The Astros. Awaiting today's starting line-up and BASEBALL.
Gurriel, that ultimate stalwart in your lineup. -0.2 WAR says so. Will he reach 50 RBIs by season's end is the burning question (projected: a whopping 590 ABs).
He is actually a reasonable .726 OPS vs LH and Mancini is only .705 So I don't mind him playing today. It's clear Dusty isn't going to play Hensley or Yainer unless someone else is ailing or scheduled for an off day
But Yuli is the ONLY 1B who can pick a throw in the dirt. For that, we can forego his bat and general fielding with 3 1B options on the roster. vs Lefties 1B options: MANCINI, Trey 348 500 848 1.9 -0.6 HENSLEY, David 625 714 1339 0.0 -0.1 GURRIEL, Yuli 297 430 727 -0.2 -1.0 MATIJEVIC, J J 273 111 384 0.0 -0.2 DIAZ, Yainer 0 0 0 0.0 0.0
The Rangers series is a good time to bring in Brown. Hope he gets some run support and earns his first victory. Cant have too many good arms come playoffs. He has just a bit of time to prove himself. Best wishes.
Probably not a great matchup tonight for that with Perez on the bump, but let's see! Go 'stros; BTSOOTR
Probably. Doesn't mean I wouldn't rather see Mancini at 1B and Vasquez behind the plate. Maybe Hensley in LF or DH depending on Yordan. But hey, I agree with 2/3rds of the line-up.
I suspect this is a LIFO decision to send Bielak down when Pressly is activated. The numbers suggest Maton, but he's Jekyll/Hyde and really good when he's on. This is where the 3 batter rule changes things.
I was thinking of the opposing offense, not the opposing pitcher. Valid point though. Lets see indeed!
