There was a Q and A a couple of days ago on The Athletic. Kaplan said he would be surprised if Strom or the front office were in favor of a six man rotation. Teams tried it in the past but the Astros were not 1 of the teams. Also had a quote from Click. Click said: “It’s something that we will discuss, but I do think that it comes with some negatives. If you’re in a six-man rotation, that’s obviously an extra roster spot. If you ever run into an off day, you’re talking about guys being on a full week of rest, almost a college schedule at that point, and a lot of these guys have trained their entire careers to pitch every five or six days, not every six or seven.” Finally Kaplan finished with this. If everyone is healthy, odds are the Astros will just have a rotation of Valdez, Zack Greinke, Lance McCullers Jr., José Urquidy and Odorizzi. They could save some Javier innings for later by sticking him in the bullpen, and they could have Garcia and Brandon Bielak go to Triple A and stay stretched out as rotation insurance
Looks like the Rangers are taking their frustrations out on the NYY and Gerrit Cole tonight. Good for them. Cole: 5.0 ip, 5 er, 2 hr
What? The Yankees lost? I saw 48 headlines about Cole setting a strikeout record, no mention of the 5 ER!
I could be wrong but there is nothing I've seen from Odorizzi that says he should be in the rotation over Javier Odorizzi has had like 2 good seasons in his 9 years. Go with the 24yr old.
Odorizzi is there to preserve arms of the young pitchers who have never pitched a major league complete season. It's not about May/June, but about October. If he returns to his old form under the tutelage of Strom, then it's a bonus. But he has to stay off the IL first. It was only 2 years ago, the last FULL SEASON (2019) that he was 15-7 with a 3.51 ERA so it's not like he's just hanging on to a career that's winding down. He's 31, not 41. But lets see what happens. I think they'll protect Javier from overwork by some strategy.
I see Castor27 is from Lumberton and hasn't made an appearance in a couple of days. I hope he didn't get flooded out. I'm just southeast of there.
I haven't been here long enough to know if that would be OK. I've been on discontinued message boards where starting a game thread was delegated to a specific individual and interlopers were not received well.
I would agree with this but wouldn't it be the other way around if that was the case. I was originally replying to Punkoholic's post.
