3 games can be made up in 6 games easily, but the team can't score 6 tuns every night. The pitching now seems below average. Not just average anymore. Just getting clobbered by playoff caliber lineups. Normally I would say this is doable, but there's no legit threat on the mound to give the team some confidence. Any change in the starters would be a last ditch effort to throw paint at the wall. I might not be against that given what's going on.
You don't win many games when 1-4 go a combined 0-18 with 6 Ks. Can we just intentionally walk Odor? If anything typifies this series, it's Odor hitting a broken bat double.

The Astros are done. 3.5 games may not seem like a lot but the issue is the other teams in front of us have to go on losing streaks to be able to catch them. It's a pipe dream if you think that will happen in the last few series of the season. The Astros haven't been able to catch up yet and it's been going on for a while where they've been 2 - 4 games out of the wild card. This team's play against the Rangers is what doomed this team. It's the difference between winning the division and not making the playoffs at all. I'm sick of losing to the Rangers in every possible way. The Astros are mental midgets when it comes to playing the Rangers.
They may be - but last night seems like a strange time to break that out, given that the Astros clawed their way back into the game with some clutch hitting, including a 2-out RBI in the 7th and game-tying HR in the bottom of the 9th. The Rangers are a better team.
Agreed. When your chasing one team, you can have some hope that their play could fall off enough to catch them. When you have to pass four teams, its astronomical against it happening. If we went 14-4 or something like that over our final 18, we would have some chance. But with starters hurt and our inconsistent play, it would take a miracle to get into the playoffs.
