Gattis has been thriving late. Keep going! <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Evan Gattis HR was hit 106.7 MPH and projected at 421ft... <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Crushed?src=hash">#Crushed</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/astros">@astros</a></p>— Daren Willman (@darenw) <a href="https://twitter.com/darenw/status/775526811660873728">September 13, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Marwin beat the initial tag, but he came off the bag. What's the record for most CS in a game?... smh
Still don't think it's fair. 2nd baseman blocks clear path to the base, applies pressure on the runners body with his glove, and the runner isn't allowed to come off the base for a split second. There needs to be a rule adjustment.
But that's not what happened. He wasn't blocking the base, Marwin slid wide and reached to his left to avoid the tag. It was Marwin's momentum that took him off the bag, not the little swipe tag.
Looking at Marwin clearly losing contact with the bag while the tag stayed on him while he was clearly off.
2nd baseman was standing partially in front of the bag and he slid around him. And, in general, it makes no sense to me that you can be nitpick-ily called out for your body not touching the base for a millisecond when the other players pressed/swiped glove on your body could potentially be affecting your momentum.
It wasn't a save opportunity or a 1-run lead, so it clearly doesn't count towards those situations because they're infinitely different. If I were the Rangers, I'd pitch around Gattis. I was thinking I would have in the 9th also
