Do I need to say it again? WOODY SUCKS !!! That signing was a bad bad move...a declining pitcher who is not going to be getting better, and is a fly ball pitcher in a home run park. Purpura.....bad bad bad move. DD
Kinda off-topic, but DaDa, did you see that you made an appearance in Alyson Footer's column this week? http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/...t_id=1964215&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou
Hooray. Love seeing a terrible team beat the crap out of a bad team. GO STROS!!!!...damnit....GO STROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That game today was pathetic again. I went to the game Thursday, Friday, and today, all losses. The worst part about all of it, is we have Woody Williams for 6 million NEXT YEAR!!!!!!! I usually try to support Purpura and give him credit, but he is on the clock now to get something done. We need a Hunsicker type trade to shake things up. He was the best GM this franchise has ever had.
Well how could you not see this series playing out this way...we had our two worst pitchers on the mound against a good hitting team...I'm just happy that Wandy is continuing to pitch decent and Jennings should hopefully be replacing Albers soon. Besides, the Astros never do well in interleague play anyways...no biggie.
I think the Asros should DFA Jason Lane and Brian Moehler. Lane is just awful and Brian Moehler sucks and he pitches once a every 10 days. Todd Walker and Craig Wilson were both cut this past week and I really always liked Walker because he is a professional hitter like Loretta. He can play first, second, third, and the outfield if needed. He would come for the minimum and couldn't be any worse than Lane. Craig Wilson hasn't played that well since being traded to the Yankees last summer but before that he had some of the best homeruns per AB in the league. He is also a great pinch hitter who could be a right hand version of Lamb. Again there is no reason to justify having Moehler on this team and Lane is just flat out horrible. Walker and Wilson couldn't be any worse than Ensberg and Lane.
Jason Lane must be Tim Purpura's son or nephew because that guy has been given chance after chance and all he has to show for it is a 1/2 season of good baseball. Luke Scott isn't hitting that great as of now but lets give this guy a chance to play everyday. There is absolutely no reason why Lane should be on the team, other than to help carry equipment around. I don't care if he has a good defensive glove, those excuses are already taken by the blackholes in the lineup at catcher and shortstop. Its time to cut bait and move on. Ditto for Ensberg, I'm sure he is a nice guy and all but if he can't hit and his last good season was two years ago and he's proven to be streaky, its time to move on. I understand that Purpura is loyal to his players, but this is ridiculous, they aren't producing and hurting the team.
