the announcers were driving me nuts about this! The fact that this season was 60 games, 60, had A TON to do with the averages. They played 37% of a full schedule so they had no time to make that climb back to respectability. You had Max friggin Stassi hitting over .300, 7HRs and an OPS of I believe .900. No way that lasts over 162. Just no time to turn it around for anyone so to me, not that odd given the amount of games.

They then segued into the fact that this post season has the 5 worst team batting averages of all time. The natural leap is to assume Houston is one of those teams based on the timing of the comment.
