Can anyone provide some logic to pulling Greinke here? What was his pitch count? Dusty hasn't managed like this all season. Is this Click's influence for what the Rays like to do? Would make sense if we had a good enough bullpen.
I was wrong - the Reddick K wasn't the pivotal moment in the game, it's pulling your ace that you pay $20M a year to put in an unproven pitcher who's had a history of being wild. This is absolutely asinine - these announcers are so dumbfounded they don't what to say without straight blasting us how stupid this move is. "This had to be planned" - yeah I guess we were pulling him even if he hadn't given up a hit and struck out 12 batters through 4. Makes sense.
Urquidy and McCullers are fine as the #2 and #3 pitchers - probably better than Framber. But pulling Greinke after 4 seems like over-managing and trying to outsmart yourself. Also, who knew that a pitcher could, mid-inning, ask for a grounds crew to mess with the mound and then you get extra warm-up pitches?
Lol , these commentators are going hard on the Grienke decision. I think its less about zach as much as it is confidence in framber . the guy had a great season for us , switching from Zach to a hard throwing lefty could be devastating. I buy it . Lets just hope framber can find the zone. Dusty likes the kid a lot.
these commentators going wild with unconfirmed speculation . Zach was not at an extraordinarily low number of pitches and he had just given up a line-out. did he have his best stuff ? Framber can get out of this. Offense has to score more than 0
