I'd rather see Chris Wallace up in September. Yeah, that probably wouldn't be too prudent considering he started the year in Lexington, but he cannot possibly be any worse that Carlos Corporan.
He's obviously done better as of late with the young pitchers. I care more about their development than another catcher. Besides... Castro is the catcher of this team when he gets healthy.
A week or so before he was called up, his son was born with a congenital defect & had open heart surgery. MLB benefits packages are a bit better than what you get in the minors. Wife and son have been in Houston ever since he was able to leave the hospital in OKC....I'll let yall put 2 & 2 together.
His wife is having a baby in a day or two, they wanted him to get some work in bc he's going to miss his spot in the rotation.
I have no problem with this. Assuming it's the case, that's pretty classy on the Astros part. It's not like the 2nd catcher is going to make or break anything with this team this season.
I was hoping all these strikeouts was the result of some stellar pitching on our part. But apparently, Pitt woofs 2nd to most (tie) in the league. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/batting/sort/strikeouts/type/expanded/order/true
What fantastic baserunning by Jimmy...that is a play you see veterans with speed make not 21 year olds.
Hit and run with Sanchez...dude is FAST, made it easy. Schafer looks like a different player from his ATL days...hope it's an evolution and not just a hot streak.
I might be Schafer's hardest critic, but I loved his inclusion in the trade. I wanted him in the trade, just as a throw-in, and wanted him to go back to the minors for a while.
I think a lot of his problems in Atlanta were the result of pressure and high expectations. Don't think he will be the superstar the Braves thought they had but he can still be a good leadoff guy. I know the Giants and Pirates are pretty bad offensive teams but good to see the Happ from last year, once again.
