I wouldn't doubt that...Garner can be stubborn to a fault sometimes; but if this teams wants another postseason appearance, they cannot afford a struggling Lidge in the closer's role for a long duration...aside from the risk of blowing games, what kind of impact would that have on the team's morale, especially the starting pitching. Keeping him in that role wouldn't be fair to either parties. Good news is that we have a number of arms waiting in Round Rock for a chance.
That was funny how he got those 2 quick outs and they talked about him being at the elite pitcher's camp and they show Ryan in the stands and then BLAMO!
They HAVE to win games that Roy starts. Because you can pretty much assume a lose when Wandy pitches. I have ZERO confidence in Lidge and I wish they would have traded him when they had a chance. This is pathetic. And Lee is 0-4?? Astros stink tonight agains the crappy Bucs!!!!
You can't bash him too much for one game (I'd say the same about Lidge except for that I think we all realize his problems go beyond one game). The one DP that he hit into was a real rocket and could have easily been a 2 RBI double.
Sigh, so much for better offense. I was so optimistic about this game too... Well, I shouldn't judge the offense by the Opening Game performance, I should judge Lidge!
