    And now he follows up that HR by allowing a line drive double down the left field line.

    The guy has lost his explosive fastball, he just tosses hittable fastballs...up in the zone.

    And this is against the lowly Pirates...imagine the horror against the better teams.

    Lidge is too shaky to be a closer right now...put him in middle relief and if he earns his way back to closer - great.

    His fastball is about 93 and up in the zone....that is NOT good....

    This is what I've been saying all along. He needs to prove that he can pitch reliably for a good month or so before he can be our closer again. Instead we keep throwing to the wolves with no success.

    It's hard to improve and work through your issues when you are under the microscope of being the closer.

    And his first strikeout wasn't even all that impressive considering he left his pitches up in the zone...then got bailed out on a 2-0 count.

    Wow... I don't think he'll be pulled from the closer's role after this game...but I think he's done...he continues this he'll be gone in a week.
