Exactly... bring back Miceli and Blow-tel. The 24 hour short-term memory of this board shall forgive them of all their mistakes, and makes them significant upgrades. Or, White throws a scoreless inning... he should be the new closer. Or Borkowski who's solid. Or Brian Moheler. Or any pitcher who doesn't do bad one day... etc. It gets annoying... but I wouldn't expect much baseball IQ from predominant NBA fans. Hell, the basketball IQ isn't all that great either.
The Cards, the supposed favorite this season, has scored 2 runs in 2 games. And has given up far more than us. We'll win the division! Well, I guess the Pirates might be 2-0. Extrapolate that out, and they'll be 162-0. We can't catch them.
I'm guessing Loretta may see his first AB of the season if Everett's up with 2 outs (or in a RBI situation).
If that doesn't sum up the first 2 games, I don't know what does. Ensberg, one of the most selective hitters in the big leagues, swings at a sure ball four that would've given them a man on with nobody out. Nothing's going right.
Pretty much after watching this offense the past few years. We added one bat, and Ensberg is still average at best. I love my 'Stros, but this team Purpura put together doesn't excite much. Forgive those of us who expected a couple of wins after seeing two of our starters come out and dominate to begin the season. I feel for Oswalt and Jennings. They totally deserved better.
What do you want? Only all stars? It's not "one bat". We added one of the top 2 or 3 free agent bats available! Adding that to a lineup does wonders for it because of his production and the effect on the players around him. Plus we've added Burke and Scott to the everyday lineup. Let's wait and see how they produce (along with Ensberg) before assuming the team is offensively inept because they only added "one bat"
Loretta came in for Biggio defensively in the 9th last night and got an AB in the 10th. He lined out to the pitcher to end the game.
They added two bats... Lee, and replacing Taveras with Burke. They were also missing arguably the third-best hitter (Scott) in this game. I don't care what standards you're using; judging anything in baseball by two games is silly.
if they took nieve over Moehler then moehler would have to clear waivers and im sure someone would have picked him up.
unknown. maybe a partial reason at least is to get Nieve more work in the minors before a callup later on? Though you wouldn't think that'd be the reason after this long.. but who knows
I still think the relief order should go: 7th: Lidge 8th: Qualls 9th: Wheeler However, I don't think that would have worked much better these first 2 games. Disappointing start to the season, but by no means is it a crisis yet.
