I'd fine them all. I think they are just looking for excuses. I suspect last August when the Astros were sweeping them in Philadelphia, they were focused and they still got swept. I just think it is hard for an MLB player to simply go through the motions. As I said, if they aren't breaking up DPs or crashing into walls, I can understand that, but I don't buy the fact that Howard was not at bat with the bases loaded and giving it his all or that Hamels was daydreaming when he was on the mound.
Nothing to play for last year? When we swept them in 4 games, they were looking up at the Braves in the division, and they lost their lead in the Wild Card race. Yeah, obviously they had nothing to play for.
Good point about the sweep last year, I stand corrected, Phillies took the Stros lightly and paid for it.
Should be exciting to see if Bud can take that next step from good solid starter to very good all star level guy.
3ks must be a season low, or at best tie a season low. ERA under 2 for the game and a WHIP under 1, very nice.
Astros let Halladay off the hook with bases loaded and no outs. Other than that it was a solid game by Bud.
I think all series long, the Philly's were waiting for our typical pitching meltdown and for 3 games, it just didnt happen. By waiting, I dont mean that they had nothing to play for or that they took us too lightly, but rather that the opportunity to win would present itself on the offensive end.
Well I will chalk it up to East Coast bias. This morning on Mike and Mike all they could talk about was the Phillies epic win to clinch a playoff berth. No discussion of the Astros record loss. I get so sick and tired of the media ignoring our franchise record accomplishments while lauding something an east coast team has done several years in a row. Ridiculous!
thought we were gonna sweep them. took the first two, and i was so gonna gloat when we won the third. Astros fail me.
