Joe Blanton = Roy Oswalt It doesn't look good for the Stros going into this series. The offense needs to remember their bats.
looking forward to that, and glad we don't have to face Pedro!!! Pedro and Lincecum last night faced off in the battle of pitchers combining to weigh 300 lbs.
Check out Jayson Stark's rumblings about the Mets. It reminds me a lot of the Astros with their large payroll, weak farm system, and a bunch of garbage surrounding a few stars. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&page=rumblings090903
This is a scary line from Richard Justice's latest article (don't worry, it's not opinion): They're 31-23 with their aces on the mound, and over the course of a full season, those numbers translate to 93-69. Basically, if the Astros had another 3 Oswalts or Wandys in their rotation... they'd barely be leading the wildcard race.
I'll be going to my first Astros game tomorrow. It's an afternoon game, so I was wondering if they'll close the roof? Also temperature wide, is it normally very hot inside the Minute Maid Park for the afternoon game or is it comfortable?
Roof will be open because unless its in the 60s with no chance of rain they normally leave it closed for day games. It used to be very nice inside minute maid temp wise but as of last year it can get a little steamy in there.
Not really that scary since Oswalt has really been pitching like an average No.2, good No.3 starter on a contending team for most the year. He has been streakily inconsistent.
Also not scary considering that their offense is terrible. The fact that they can have that good of a record based on pitching alone speak volumes how important it is to have at least an average offense, but a stellar pitching staff.
