Astros can not let this opportunity pass with a lead off double for Bourn and 2,3,4 hitters coming up.
Why not look at ALL of his outs? Career ERA: 4.75 2007 ERA with the Astros: 4.07 2008 ERA with the Astros: 4.76 He's basically league-average. With this offense, that's enough to be our #5 starter. If we win today, we'll have won 3 of his 4 starsts this year. He's basically good for 5 innings, 2 or 3 runs allowed.
I still don't think Moehler is starting caliber even with a good offense but you make a good argument.
Can't complain with Byrdak's results but his 8/6 BB/K ratio and career 5 ERA makes you think there has been an unusual amount of luck on his side.
At least Cooper pulled the plug quickly. No men on base, he gave Villarreal one shot. Villarreal failed.
My guess he is hoping he can just get one out with no one on base and 2 outs. So he can save Brocail for tomorrow with Sampson going against Hamels.
For a guy with Pence's speed, he gets caught stealing an awful lot. He must be doing something wrong. On that last play, he slowed down for a second. I know Wigginton has been hitting well the last few games but that last swing he took looked pathetic. He reached so far off the plate that he ended up in nearly a full sprint from being so off balance.
