You do realise we are 6 games ahead of .500 still and only 1 game out of first place? The way you're talking is like we're 10 games behind .500
Starting pitching will be nearly impossible to find. It's not Wade's fault if pitching does us in this year. He did a great job this past offseason adding some good players and changing things up. I wasn't expecting to be in contention but it's hard not to start believing with the Astros 7 games above .500 and one game out of 1st place in the NL Central. Then our pitching smacks the reality right back into me.
That's his schtick. He's developed a reputation for it whether talking about the 'stros or the Rockets. I'm sure we'll see more of it when the Texans start, as well. It's so much fun.
Of course I am partially reacting to this game but I also made some reasonably valid points like the fact that our best starter has an ERA of 4.11.
It's just overly pessimistic. Over and over like a broken record. You take one game to tell us that the team a game out of first has been smacked back to reality because of....one game. The same pitching that's been good enough to be 7 games over while playing an assload of road games so far is all of a sudden not good enough. Because of...one game. And then it's couched as more objective than the rest of us. Which is funny.
your opinion is very negative and quite rude. nice 'what have you done for me lately' view too. didn't you just say you can't fault Wade for not finding a solid starting pitcher? or was that someone else.
And by the way, it's not my schtick. I am just being myself and chatting in a forum. I am not trying to cause problems or upset other people. I've said plenty of positive things about both the Astros and Rockets yet you try to make me look bad by categorizing me as someone who only says negative things. It simply isn't true. You just choose to try to make me look bad because you haven't liked a few of my thousands of post. Not cool.
it's our crappy middle relief that was on display today though. there's nothing easier to find than that. let's wait until our starting pitching really begins to let us down before complaining about them. it's a huge huge plus for us to be able to find our big weaknesses this early in the season and while winning games.
I'm not trying to make you look like anything. You do it on your own. Hell, there was whole thread devoted to it in the GARM. I'm actually late to the game in that regard. I'm not saying you never say anything good...I'm saying this is now at least the 2nd time where you've instructed that the Astros got smacked back to reality because of one game...and the reality is they've played a lot more than one and have a fine record to show for it.
There is your exaggeration again. "Over and over...". I've posted thousands of times and maybe 5% of have been negative. You are just lying or have not really paid attention to anything but my negative posts. I'll be the first to tell you that I will get down on my teams but not nearly to the extent that you try to portray it.
That's because the Astros have been winning...the minute they lose you pull the plug because you've been smacked back to reality.
Brooksball, you seem like one of the more intelligent posters on here and I agree with most of the points you make, and usually the ones I don't I still respect your view. But I think you're way too quick to write our team offdue to one game. On this point, I think you're wrong. I don't believe we have "come back to earth" or anything like that. Maybe if we go on a long losing streak or a run of bad results then maybe you can say that, but on the back of one game it's too soon to say it.
One thread. One thread of the many that I've created and I never made that mistake again. If I have something negative to say out of frustration or because that is the way I really see things, I've learned it is not a good idea to devote a thread to that and I understand why. You DEFINITELY have made several comments where you exaggerate the extent to which I say negative things. Hundreds upon hundreds of people in here get disappointed at times or see things differently than the mainstream. Clutch devoted a thread to the concept of not jabbing at or criticzing people just because you don't agree with them. You don't have to be a cheerleader to state your opinions in here and you shouldn't get slammed by people just because they disagree with you.
Look, I have no idea who you are personally. I just find your "sky is falling" posts after a loss to be funny. They have the best record in all of baseball this month and one game "smacks you back to reality." For the second time. I can only promise I will continue to needle those posts.
