I realize... but I also think he's TONS better than White, Moehler, et al. <edit> the Brewers lost today; I hope the Astros win and move 11.5 games back
He's tons better than anyone else in this bullpen, period. Anyway, bad news... Lidge suffered a setback today. The oblique is fine, but the right knee that he had problems with earlier this year is acting up again. Nothing too serious, but he's probably out until after the All-Star Break. With Qualls likely serving his suspension this weekend... it's going to get real interesting in the bullpen.
Also, unrelated to this particular series, but Troy Patton was promoted to RR today... story will be up on the site very shortly.
I hate it when JD does the "game over" thing when Roy is on the mound, and his team give him a decent lead. I've yet to see it NOT backfire once... which leads me to believe that Roy isn't "automatic" once he has a comfortable lead.
I'm not going to say it's about time because this was the plan all along. Hopefully, he does well and we get a chance to see him in September.
This may not hold up to investigation, but it seems to me that Roy has been prone to giving up leads and big innings over the last few years. He will cruise along for 6 innings, but he loses concentration for an inning before going back to being dominant.
Yes, perfect situation for Pence. Bases loaded, 2 outs... git r dun hunnnntterrrr EDIT: Ugh, I can see this going many more innings.
Crap. Well at least he goes down swinging. You hear that Ensberg? It's called a swing. Try it sometime and you might jsut get to play again.
