Come on guys, (1) Hirsch is an impressive pitcher, he's just like freezing under the pressure of the big leagues. Kinda like Buchholz, only bigger. (2) Lane will get himself benched eventually, may take getting new coaching staff but knows. (3) Biggio doesn't suck. I bet you didn't say that 10 years ago? lol j/k
only reason i am talking about lane is because we have at least 2 better hitters that can play that position, scott and huff who cares if its a lefty on the mound i don't have a problem with biggio playing hirsch has been pretty good the last couple of outings
Hirsh is living up to his previous track record of taking some time to adjust to a new league. He will probably hit a few more bumps along the way before this season is done... but I have confidence that he'll continue to improve (as he has since he's been up here so far), and be ready to be a consistent, reliable starter by the start of next season.
does anyone else find themselves yawning to death when Hirsh pitches? yeah he's getting outs, but according to the prophecy, they should all be of the K variety. harry potter has spoken edit: better, hirsh is starting to fulfill the prophecy with 2 k's in the 4th
Honestly, I think you're the only one who came up with this prophecy. Everybody who had actually heard of Hirsh before he came up knew that his 6'8 frame was deceptive in that he rarely threw above 94 mph, and was more of a control pitcher than flamethrower. He'll still get some K's... but more because he's staying ahead of the count, and has plus stuff... not because his stuff is untouchable.
I'm definitely not one of those "batting average is everything" guys, but it's not exactly surprising that we're getting no hit through 5 when your starting lineup has 3 guys hitting under .230 and 5 guys under .250 (not counting the pitcher). That's alot of dead weight for Berkman, Burke, and Willy T to carry.
That looked like it was out. Edit: to clarify for those not watching the game. Howard hit a towering fly ball the crawford boxes and some kid tried to catch the ball but dropped it. The umpires called it a double and initially it looked like it but on replay it looks like it hit his glove above the yellow line before he dropped it.
We are getting no hit through six innings. And the Phils got robbed of Ryan Howard's 57th homerun...which is a GOOD thing. DD
why do we sit luke scott? is there even any question that this is the worst lineup that any team in baseball has trotted out this season?
WTF? Why take out Hirsch? Let him work out his problems and GROW ......and then Qualls comes in and SUCKS it up...... LOL - what a train wreck.... When Uprising said sweep, I thought he meant for the good guys. DD
