I think the euphoria from the past two seasons, last year especially, is completely, without a doubt, gone now. I think back to the wild ride this team has had and it's depressing to see how low they've sunk. Can't even get back to .500 ball, jeez. The WS is but a distant memory now. :(

...but a fond memory no less.

It's all in your perspective guys. I am fanatical about the Stros, no denying this. I love these guys more than a person probably should, lol. I want to see how we do tomorrow. I want to stop using Lidge this season except in extra innings and we have no choice. He's a slider man and the slider f***s your arm up worse than anything I can think of. I bet he did something to his arm, can't get control or command on his pitches and he doesn't know what to do now without his power pitch. I can't give up on them yet. I want Lane PHn with O.P. I want Lamb, Burke and Scott in every game we can. I still believe but then again I am one of those blinded fans that think we can do no wrong BUT I can still give credit the talent that is kicking our butts, although I wish they were on the DL.

The astros are like an old prize fighter going against younger more talented fighters....its just ugly to watch and everyone talks about the good ol' days...those days are over for now

I am sure a few of you caught that documentary on the Stros going to the WS on FSN. I caught the very end when that last catch was made and the Dirty Sox won it. Well, they showed all of our guys, and they were hugging each other, well, you see (I remember this too, I know you do) Bagwell and Biggio hug and they kind of hugged each other a little more than the others. I cried like a baby, still. That was so much fun last year. I can give these guys a break for this season because dadgummit they played there hearts out for us last year. I am still high from that. It takes them showing a little footage and memories come back and it was so sweet. I don't care how this season goes to tell you the truth. I am still thankful for last season.

I feel sorry for Lidge. I was at the game and there were so many people booing him. Are Astros fans no better than ignorant Yankee fans now?

Lidge was getting squeezed mercilessly by the home plate umpire. The first two batters that he faced, so many of those pitched could have and should have been called as strikes. From there on out I believe he got rattled and it just snowballed for him.

Lidge is a damn good pitcher, and he doesn't deserve to be booed by his home fans. There have been some other embarrassing displays by Astros 'fans' as well this year, the booing of Jeff Kent among others.

Houston fans still have a ways to go before they can be considered intelligent baseball fans.

How high does Lidge's era or whip have to get before you acknowledge he is having a bad season? You don't know squat about baseball. That is one thing I'm sure of.

Edit: just a little more clarification. Lidge has a 5.62 ERA. Do you understand what that means? This is a NL pitcher with a 5.62 ERA and 1.48 WHIP. Brad Lidge has allowed a run in 26 of his 70 appearances. Find me ANY reliever that has allowed a run in that many appearances. If by some miracle you find me one, is that pitcher closing ball games for his team?

I acknowledge he is having a bad season. I also stand behind the fact that he is a damn good pitcher. And it's also obvious you don't know nearly as much about baseball as you believe you do.

I was planning on watching that, till the stros were whooped today. ...again.

    So, WAY TO GO TCU!

And...ummm.....always next year for the Stros I guess.

Let the young guys play, rest the old ones.

I know enough to know that a guy that allows a run in every 2.5 appearances should not be pitching for a team in a pennant race. This is a concept you can't seem to grasp.

Well, it was fun for a little while until all the glaring holes shined through...It would have been nice for the Stros to be in the playoffs again, but I'll be rooting for the Marlins...Just a great story...

The Astros just rode a horse too long.....they tried to recoup last years run, and the team just didn't have it.

    Retool for next year.

Man, if the Yanks were playing like the 'Stros are now, the Yank players would have to have umbrellas to dodge all the tomatoes being thrown on the street at them.

The 'Stros fans have been very faithful and dedicated while the 'Stros as a team have crapped on every rally, every bit of enthusiasm attempted.

See if the 'Stros fans dont voice their opinion, then we're considered soft. Otherwise, I guess we have no loyalty.

I for one think the 'Stros fans have been awesome and are pretty intelligent when it comes to the game.

For instance, when the 'Stros consistently failed to move runners into SP, they let whomever hear it.

No need to apologize to me, we are all fans. I want them to win every single game, but IMHO, the chemistry on this years team is just all wrong.

Maybe Bagwell being in the clubhouse last year made a big difference? Who knows.

You had me till the last sentence. I know for me personally, I am intelligent as a general rule and I am obsessed with the Astros so that makes me an intelligent Astros fan. I love the game of baseball more than any other and I can also admit like you that Lidge is good with a bad season. Booing him p*ss*ss me off because I think booing your own team is just wrong. I have said that before here and got my butt jumped on but I still think we should be more supportive, no matter how bad they are doing. My God has taught me unconditional love and I try to apply that to every facet in life. I figure if I can apply that to my rapist back in the day, I sure can give it to a sports team, lol. I just hope Wandy is just magical today, it has happened before.

They are done. I am going to miss them playing October baseball. There is nothing better than Astros playoff games at MMP.

    Astros Call On Express Trio
Albers, Munson and Gimenez head to Houston

ROUND ROCK – Less than 24 hours after falling in the Pacific Coast League Championship, three players from the Triple-A Round Rock Express were called on by the Houston Astros on Saturday.

Houston announced that it had recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Albers and catcher Hector Gimenez from Round Rock and purchased the contract of catcher Eric Munson from the Express, which missed out on its second league championship with a 6-3 loss to Tucson on Friday.

Albers, 23, returns to Houston after being optioned to Round Rock on Sept. 7. The Houston native made two starts in the PCL playoffs for the Express, going 0-1 with a 2.76 ERA. He is 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA in three appearances for the Astros. He tossed 5.0 scoreless innings of relief with two hits on July 27 vs. Cincinnati.

Albers began the season at Double-A Corpus Christi and was 10-2 with a 2.17 ERA in 19 starts. He was named the Texas League’s Pitcher of the Year.

Gimenez, 23, makes his first appearance in the majors. He hit .273 with eight home runs and 37 RBI at Round Rock and led nearly every offensive category for the PCL playoffs, finishing with a playoff-best .464 batting average.

Munson, 28, returns to Houston where he batted .204 with five home runs and 19 RBI in 49 games this season. He started 30 games behind the plate for the Astros before he was designated for assignment on Aug. 20. He was assigned to Round Rock on Aug. 24 and batted .250 with two home runs and nine RBI in eight regular season games.
