That'll be awesome, because My Broncos will have a better chance getting in. I hope Broncos and Texans get in though. I want to see Andre Johnson in the playoffs.
Hoping that our guys come out prepped and ready. Brady isn't the most mobile QB, so if Mario, Antonio and the others can get by the offensive line, it should take much to force Brady into a bad throw or him eating the sack. But either way, I wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots pull their starters if we cause them enough trouble. Although, if they are still in the game or on top, I doubt Brady and his crew will come out of the game easily. Either way, big game.
8-8 and we will do this all over next year; as Mike Silver of Yahoo Sports said, "the Texans are the biggest tease in the NFL." The Texans are no match for New England, and even if they could beat them, they are not lucky enough to end up in the playoffs. But if by some miracle they do, I will cheer for them. No doubt, this will be the most interesting Sunday of the season.
I disagree that we're no match for them. Starters or not, how much do you want to bet that we will dominate them................for a half?
I don't bet on sports, and if I did, I sure wouldn't bet on a team as inconsistent as the Texans. They are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. If the Pats do what the Colts did, and I doubt they will, and if the Pats don't score 30+ in the first half, the Texans may have a chance. If they play a full game, 8-8. Think of it, how pathetic is it to be stuck on 8-8 for three consecutive years, that defines mediocrity.
But they are consistently inconsistent. Believing they will play great for a half and $#!++y for the other seems not so risky. They do love 8-8 though and you;re right that is pathetic. I am hoping against hope that we win this game, even if we don't make the playoffs. If we don't I will see the numbers 8-8 everywhere I go until next year. The big hope is that Andre plays like a man possessed. 200 yds and two scores would do us nicely. Seeing Mario respond to the recent criticism would be great too.
Actually, I want the team to win, I want any Houston football team to win, it has just been an unbearably frustrating run going back into the Oiler years. I am amazed that fans can take this much abuse. Personally, I think this team has players that have discovered that the pay checks keep coming win or lose. Plus, I think we need some more experience, skill, and "kick butt" attitude in our coaching staff. I would clean house. If they go 8-8 again, McNair might get enough heat to make major changes, but sort of doubt it.
You see I actually wouldn't mind one more year for Gary. Its a fine line between winning and losing as this year has shown. My biggest complaint with Kubiak is not having this team ready to play for four quarters. Also they came out flat against the jets and thats huge now. If he's back next year he better have them ready to play at all times.
From ESPN: No quarterback has been any better, or more productive, in the game's first 30 minutes than Schaub. During the first half of his past three games, Schaub has stormed out of the gate, throwing for 772 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions, a 75 percent completion percentage and a 132.2 quarterback rating. His timing has been spot-on. Houston must make a decision whether to pay Schaub a $10 million option bonus payment by the fifth day after the Super Bowl -- Feb. 12. Schaub's performance the past few weeks has made it a near-certainty that Houston will exercise that option. Throughout this season, the game-planning of Texans coach Gary Kubiak and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan clearly has made a difference. Where Schaub and the Texans have struggled is in finishing off opponents. They've managed to do it the past two weeks to the St. Louis Rams and Miami Dolphins. But they will need to finish strong against the New England Patriots to post the first winning season in franchise history and keep alive their slim playoff hopes. As pleasant as it might be for the Patriots to return to Houston, where they won Super Bowl XXXVIII, New England quarterback Tom Brady will have mixed memories. On the field where Brady won his second Super Bowl MVP trophy in three years, he will stare straight across the line and see Texans safety Bernard Pollard. Just last season, on opening day, when New England played Kansas City, Pollard charged through the line, crawled into Brady, tearing the ligaments in the quarterback's knee. Since then, a lot has changed. Kansas City released Pollard and Houston signed him. Meanwhile, Brady has yet to fully regain his preinjury form, though he has shown flashes of greatness as of late. Now the two players meet again in what represents a minor mental hurdle for Brady as the Patriots prepare to return to the postseason one year after missing it. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=schefter_adam&id=4779474
I don't know why they are having a breaking news ticker on NFL network about Cushing being questionable, but starting. We know he is going to show...
Agreed. It has been reminicient of the old days at times. This team should have won 10 - 11 games no problem. 3 games we were at the 1 and couldn't convert.... basically costing us W's The inability to win close games and make games close when they shouldn't be. Ruining Steve Slaton for a year (and possibly longer) by having him gain so much weight and mess with his bodytype .... Don't mess with a good thing. Their steadfast resistance to acknowlege this mistake (and resulting injury), realize the urgency as we're ready now, and still not procure a quality reliable, RB. Awful playcalling ......so many trick plays in the redzone....and so much more. The sad thing is that this team made an incredible push showing their heart and talent, but the coaching staff let them down. Kubiak is probably a good guy in getting a team to this point, but forget about him taking you to the next level. I hope Bob decided 50 - 75% of the way through the season that Kubes was gone and made a handshake deal with Cowher. That said, I've been worried over the last few weeks that we would win enough games (because of that talent and heart) not make the playoffs and have Bob use this to justify keeping Kubiak. OK. I'm done. Go Texans ! and go Chiefs, Raiders, and Bengals !
